Gone are the days when a 4-year college degree was seen as the only viable path to economic mobility.
With only 53% of today’s students likely to seek a traditional degree, it’s time that we in the K-12 space step up to ensure young people are aware of?all?their postsecondary options, and evolve the narrative around multiple pathways to success in order to best equip young people for success based on their talents and interests.
In addition to shifting perception for students, it’s also critical for business leaders to reconsider degree requirements as the only form of quality assurance for job applicants in this changing world.
On Monday, April 4, I’ll be moderating a panel at ASU+GSV centered on ensuring the quality and efficacy of non-degree options, how to help students and families navigate them, and the role of employers in advancing equitable access to opportunity for learners and workers.
I’ll be joined by other leaders from across the education space who are working on this narrative shift; it’s sure to be an informative discussion!
