College degree - Skill based potential and experience is powerful

No matter what area of work, business or career choice that a person may find themselves in, the question about whether or not to go to college is front and center. The world is in a different place than it was five, ten, twenty or even fifty years ago. Going to college is still a great way to prepare yourself for the future and securing a good paying job but it is not for everyone. Some non-degree workers can obtain a good paying job with internships, trade school certificates like air conditioning repair and make more money than a four year bachelor's degree to be a school teacher. It is up to the individual, everyone is different, but the options on both sides of this discussion are plentiful.

Here at Titan Clarity we prioritize hiring the most qualified experts that we can find. Each job opening may be different from the next. When we interview software engineers to work for us we take into consideration their entire work history whether they have a degree or not. We thoroughly look into their business accomplishments, certifications and how well they work with a team as well as their expertise in multiple programming languages. We are looking for a competent team player that can quickly assimilate into whatever job vacancy they need to fill.

To be a software developer a person really has this same choice. Whether or not to go to a formal four year degree school or self learn by attending technical bootcamps and getting certified in specialized areas such as Java and Python. For a traditional school, there are many things to consider such as location of school, cost of tuition, housing, getting a part time job, commuting, etc. Whereas for bootcamp training it is mostly online, very time consuming, costly in price and possibly more conducive to working a part time job. One thing is for sure, both require a huge commitment financially and time required to work on this endeavor.

All that matters is only your passion and dedication towards your job. As long as you are committed and dedicated, your degree or not having a degree is not your identity. Choose your path based on your own life and goals that you have established. A job will come in the field that you decide and put forth the amount of effort needed to accomplish it.

Now, obviously if you want to become a physician it is required to follow the educational path to become a doctor. But there are many other career choices that can be taken with no formal education. Some choose to be self taught in a subject or field, enroll in trade schools and internships as well as attending bootcamps that will issue a certificate of completion showing that you do have proof of proficiency. For this subject of being a computer programmer or software developer the future is extremely bright and the need for such workers is growing by leaps and bounds everyday.

Lastly, you don’t need a college degree to be a computer programmer or software developer, you only need a desire to take the necessary steps and possess the fortitude to see it through to completion. Good Luck!
