COLLECTIVE BIAS IS THE CURRENT DAY TRUTH

Okay here’s a thought-

If you had to rename social media by its use, how would you do it?

Here’s how I would do it -

  1. WhatsApp.com will be Rumour.com
  2. Instagram will be Vella.com (loiter.com)
  3. Twitter.com will be Tea.com (gossip.com)
  4. Facebook.com will be Get-props-for-games.com
  5. Snapchat.com will be sundar-bana-do-yaar.com ( filters.com / makebeautiful.com)
  6. Youtube.com will be 2x.com (2x-speed-video.com)
  7. LinkedIn.com will be Formal.com
  8. TikTok.com will be Scroll.com

These social medium are quite successful because of their better customer understanding and seized the opportunity. It’s interesting to know that these apps weren’t originally visualised as so.

While technically any post can be posted at any of the social medium, we see a surprising alignment in people’s choice to select certain social media for certain posts.

There are enough scientific studies on its psychological impact and perception influence. It extrapolates emotions, Spreads misinformation and disinformation, encourages opinion based insights and alters our reality.

While we all understand social media extrapolates our mood, it can be a healthy debate to contribute to its algorithm in the right manner. For example, for sadness, anger, depression, and prejudice, it can give reverse algorithms which will lead to neutrality, but instead it feeds you the same emotions to exaggerate further.

We all know the profound wisdom of sage Yajnavalkya through Brihadaranyaka Upanishad :-

You are what your deep driving desire is.

As you desire, so is your deed.

As your deed is, so is your destiny.

Had this been written today, it would go as:

You are what your deep driving desire is.

As your desire is, so is your search

As your search is, so is your algorithmic feed

As your feed is, so is your perception

As your perception is, so is your bias

Collective bias is the current day truth.

As your collective truth is, so is your collective destiny
