I wrote a small paragraph to a professional connect, who had incidentally met me and had offered his help, to seek his reference/ recommendation for work. He responded with one word, " Sure". I reasserted by asking, " Will you definitely be able to ?" His answer came. "Yes''. I insisted, " How long will it take?" His reply, " Shortly". I wanted to hear a sentence of two words from him so that I could trust him some more. I asked him, " Do you always give one word responses?" He was spot on, "Yes", So I sent this message, " One word responses do not carry any emotions. I want to hear some words of confidence. I want me show you a picture of what is in store for me. I want to feel good. " His response, "OK." Did I get a referral? - No. Have I learned? Yes.

I saw him running with his office bag dangling from his shoulder. He had to catch the cab. And an acquaintance said it was everyday story. I was surprised. It was so easy to re-write this story. One had to go back and look at each sentence and change some commas or semicolons or use some easier shorter words. Will he ever understand or realize this?

In your mind you slapped that man who broke the queue. Mind couldn't distinguish between real and imagination. And the angry mind did all the damage it could to your body for whatever moments it was feeling the emotion. You must learn to stay positive even in your imagination. You need to learn to manage your emotions and be kind to your body.

1982. My first & only job!I bought a new Bajaj Scooter and rode it to office. My super boss came to know about it. He congratulated me, asked for the keys, kick-started my scooter, made me sit behind and took me for a round. Was I happy? Very Happy? Of course, I was! Today I look back and think: If only all of us could have remained same without getting affected by our positions and that deep intense desire to control people through use of power. We couldn't. Because, like so many others, as we grew up, we started fearing people, we became insecure; we built walls. And today we wonder.

He told me he was a leadership coach. I asked him, "How long you led people or teams before becoming a coach?." A young man, about 29, he looked at me with a real mocking look and said, " Why? I have an international certification. I have paid through my nose to become one. I am trained. I can coach. Why you ask me a question like that. ? " Indeed, who I was to ask such a question? He had just introduced himself. I didn't have any business to kind of challenge him. I apologized and we changed the subject.

It was a beautiful shirt. It looked good, it was telling a story of a designer's mind and holding it in my hand I found it very comfortable. There was kind of warmth in the fabric. It didn't have a label.. Wasn't among any top brands. Couldn't get picked up and was sold to me for a discount. That's when I realised that labels matter. People say that the world of intellectuals doesn't believe in labels. Well, we all know the reality and we need to adjust to this one truth.

During one of my visits to Ludhiana, I told that Pedal Rickshwala that he had charged me a lot higher. Because he hardly hd to put an effort to pedal due to the slope on the road. He heard me, stopped on the side, got down and said, " Sir, lets change places." That was a lesson that taught me never to feel the work of others lighter and that we needed to respect everyone for what they were doing to make both ends meet.

"Sir, I simply click on like depending upon who has written and move on. Who has the time to read. What I can learn. My job fetches me good money. It's about sitting in front of computer or with mobile - deadlines, challenges, targets, irritated customers and con-calls. Sheer stress. I prefer to relax just sitting. " He said when we were talking of writing posts on linkedin. He was a stranger who met me during travel and I was the culprit for I had brought up the topic of LinkedIn as a platform for sharing. Oh, I just stopped in nick of time to tell him that I write, think, write, think, write , think , write, think, write.. to spend my non-working days which are more in number, constructively.

Phone rang. It was Mr. S on the line calling me up after many years. We exchanged pleasantries and then he said, " I am sitting with a gentleman who has just now used a verse which I liked and when I inquired about the source, I learned it was from your book ‘A Little More Than Ordinary’ purchased by him in Pune a few years ago. I thought let me help him talk to the writer he often quotes". I was pleasantly surprised as I had written that book sometime in 2002. Well, my eyes rolled a couple of tears. Life smiles on us in many ways. This was one such way. Thank You, Life!!!
