Despite a challenging year, our colleagues at BSH locations around the world have not lost sight of one thing: Their commitment to social issues and the environment.

Today we take a first look at selected activities from our teams in Europe.

BSH Poland

Throughout the year, BSH Sprz?t Gospodarstwa Domowego Polska demonstrated a strong commitment to social responsibility.?

In March, financial support was extended to the "Nasza Arka" Association in Rzeszów, aiding in daily operations, purchasing essentials, and modernizing the day care center. The National Education Polytechnic School Complex in Lodz received financial support for laboratory retrofitting and patronage of mechatronics and automation classes.

The Association of Therapeutic Support Center in ?odz benefited from financial aid for a sociotherapeutic camp, entertainment workshops, and additional resources for educators. Simultaneously, the JPII Integration Foundation in Lodz received funding for its community center's daily operations and summer camps. The Society for the Care of the Blind in Laski received non-cash support, including home appliances, office furniture, and study room equipment.

In April, the Society for the Care of the Blind in Laski continued to receive financial support for daily operations, covering expenses such as food, layettes, and school supplies. Moving into May, the Kazimierz Górski Sports Championship School in Lodz received support for athletically talented youth, covering full board, transportation costs, and participation in sports trips.

June saw contributions to the "Nasza Arka" Association in Rzeszow for daily operations and support for families caring for children and adolescents. The Tobiaszki Foundation in Wroclaw received financial aid for vacation trips, Christmas Eve meetings, and facility renovation. Additionally, home appliances were donated to St. Anne's Parish in Lodz for nursery and kindergarten equipment.

In July, the Society for the Care of the Blind in Laski received donations of cell phones, aiding in the exercise of cognitive abilities. Home appliances were also provided for newly created houses for children and families from Ukraine.

Moving into October, the JPII Integration Foundation in Lodz continued to receive financial backing for its community center and charity concerts for children with disabilities and from Ukraine. In November, St. Brother Albert's Aid Society in Pabianice received home appliances to improve living conditions conditions of people supported by the Society.? The year concluded with a Christmas action where employees purchased gifts for children from the JPII Integration Foundation in Lodz, ?wietlica Podwórkowa in Lodz, Tobiaszki Foundation in Wroclaw, and "Nasza Arka" Association in Rzeszów.

In total, BSH Polandy provided financial support and non-cash support for the "We help with ideas" initiative.

BSH Spain

BSH Electrodomésticos Espa?a, S.A. , embodying a strong commitment to social responsibility, engaged in various initiatives throughout the year, making a positive impact on different communities.

Thanks to the solidarity of the employees of BSH Spain, hundreds of children had a gift last Christmas. BSH has collaborated with the Spanish Red Cross on their Christmas campaign and employees at all our locations donated new toys for minors in poverty .

Balay, a local BSH brand, contributes to the fight against cancer by selling a special kitchen apron in its solidarity online store, with all proceeds directed to the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC). The commitment extends further, with Balay donating the entirety of the funds collected from its charity store to support the AECC’s initiatives. Additionally, Balay collaborates with ATADES for a 2024 solidarity calendar, with the generated funds aimed at facilitating various inclusive projects for the Aragonese Intellectual Disability Association, which works to make life easier for people with intellectual disabilities and their families.

Building on a legacy of more than 20 years, BSH's collaboration with the Salesianos center underscores a shared interest in nurturing future professionals. This long-standing partnership encompasses diverse activities, including training initiatives, internships for students and graduates, and participation in events such as the Don Bosco Awards, all geared towards fostering scientific and technological vocations.

BSH Spain and the University of Zaragoza have maintained a close relationship since 1981. The BSH Electrodomésticos Chair in Innovation was created in November 2006 thanks to an agreement signed by the University of Zaragoza and BSH Electrodomésticos Espa?a, S.A. with the aim of creating a new framework for joint work in research, development and innovation projects, training activities, internships for students, recruitment of engineers, graduates, diploma and degree students, final projects and doctorates.

In corporate social responsibility, BSH aids those facing social exclusion by furnishing apartments with appliances and collaborating with groups such as YMCA, Adunare, Fundación Adsis, and Obra Social El Carmen Foundation.

Collaborating with "A todo trapo" of Cáritas Zaragoza, BSH collects used clothes, amassing 2,500 kg in Spain. Moreover, Zaragoza employees participate in a company race, raising funds donated to a charity of their choice, transmitting team spirit and solidarity.

100% of the computers, tablets and cell phones that are replaced at BSH but are operational, are delivered to the CEOE Foundation, which through the 'Sustainable Digitalization' campaign, reconditions these devices and donates them to people and entities in need. Since the campaign began, 608 BSH IT equipment’s have been treated by the Preparation Centers and 210 have been donated to NGOs. The rest have been recycled. (Figures of July 2023)

After the cancellation of the EOX6100-NHT induction oven project, two sewing machines used in the prototype department at the Monta?ana factory are no longer in use. Consequently, they have been donated to the San Valero study center.

BSH Spain supports various foundations to enhance the well-being of those in need. The company provides home appliances for apartments of individuals receiving treatment away from home through a collaboration with the Josep Carreras Foundation. In conjunction with the Fundación Ronald McDonald Foundation, BSH equips spaces with home appliances for families of children undergoing cancer treatment. Additionally, BSH partners with the Down Huesca Foundation to furnish a school with home appliances, to improve the quality of life for individuals with Down Syndrome and other intellectual disabilities and promoting personal autonomy.

In Zaragoza, BSH Spain engages in solidary activities. InvolucraTECH, a scientific-technical volunteering project, brings professionals into classrooms to share knowledge in science and technology with children and young people.?

Three times a year, BSH Spain organizes blood donations at their offices. Employees donate blood that goes to the blood banks through the Red Cross.

BSH Germany

Three organizations supported by our colleagues in Giengen were delighted to receive donations. In a festive ceremony, site manager Gerhard Egger and logistics manager Manuel Utz handed over the donations to a kindergarten, an organization that provides low-cost food to people in need and BSH Katastrophenhilfe. The total donation sum is made up of the donations from the Family Day.

In Dillingen, site manager Claus Koether handed over donations to seven charitable organizations from the local area. Here too, the donations came from employees and from prize money from various awards, such as the Bavarian Energy Prize. Among the beneficiaries were the Dillinger Tafel and the Kinderschutzbund.

At the Berlin laundry care site, 17 BSH teams ran for a good cause - a total of 7,722 km. For every kilometer, the site management donated to a charitable organization and doubled the amount raised.

The Berlin "HelpingHands@BLW" were also in action. After the Fruit Logistica trade fair in early 2023, volunteers once again collected fruit, vegetables and much more for the Berliner Tafel food bank. In total, 65 tons of food was saved. The site management also donated a further amount to the Berliner Tafel.

In mid-September, the "HelpingHands@BLW" cleared a Berlin park of garbage. The special thing about it: This time there was support from children from the workforce. Equipped with garbage grabbers and children's vests, they collected a considerable amount of garbage together with their parents.

Waste disposal was also on the agenda in Traunreut. For the third time in a row at the so-called "Rama Dama". Eight teams, consisting of managers, trainees and building managers, collected an impressive 42 kg of garbage from around the site.

BSH Netherlands

BSH Nederland is a partner of JINC, an organization that supports young people aged 8 to 16 in their transition into the labor market. Through the JINC program, children have the opportunity to explore different professions, discover their talents, and learn essential job application skills. Each year, JINC empowers over 78,000 children by providing them with valuable experiences.

BSH hosts 5-6 annual events at their "inspiratiehuis" (inspiration house), where small groups of students, aged 11-14, meet. During these visits, the students receive presentations about BSH, tour the showroom, learn about various job roles, and even engage in a cooking demonstration.?
