We spend a lot of time these days complaining about the lack of talent coming into the trades. Where are the farm kids? What is the high school doing to fix this problem? Do they even know all the opportunity just waiting for them? All of the trades have seen the same problems, our Tool and Die trade is one of the hardest hit. While the problems are many, the solutions have proven to be more elusive.
So far many have gone the route of cheerleading. My trade is great they say. Come to our shop and we will give you things…These short term feelgood statements are mildly successful at attracting the attention of some, but the problem continues. Fresh ideas are needed. Current leaders of today have a responsibility to hand off our trade to the next generation. We must take that duty seriously.
Mantz Automation is leading the way by teaming with Hartford Union High School in a new twist to an old idea. Immersion. Just like learning a new language is easier when you are immersed in the culture. Learning about a trade is best done the same way. Mantz Automation will offer a chance to feel the pride of a job well done. Mistakes will be made, and solutions will be found. The path may get altered but we will finish together.
Over the next semester our Designers, Machinists, Toolmakers, Project Managers and Molding techs will accompany a class of HUHS students through a design and build project. Mantz Automation and its current employees are committed to our responsibility to pay it forward with this special program.
Stay connected to follow our progress.

2 年Outstanding work both by Mantz Automation Inc. And Hartford Union High School. The goal for every High School must be to set its students up for the next chapter of their life with the necessary skills to succeed. Whether that be college, trade school, or straight into the workforce, it doesn’t matter, partnerships like this one are crucial to helping the school’s educational flexibility. A community working together to improve the next generation, will keep that community strong and thriving! Cheers on the work!
