Collaborative leadership in action
I have to tell you about a great leadership initiative that shows the power of collaborative team-building. The @Institute on Governance runs an Inter-Jurisdictional Executive Leadership Program in Halifax with participants from three levels of government. Using the principle of crowd sourcing they are working on a key issue identified by One Nova Scotia report: immigration.
Out of the blue last month, our candidate from the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration announced that she had arranged, on her own initiative, for everyone to attend a Room to Grow Summit this Monday looking at diversity and inclusion. Were they (and we) good to go, she asked?
Everyone (instantly) agreed to adjust their schedules to attend, and so they will be there Monday for the Summit and Tuesday morning do some work on our program that @Ross MacCleod leads with our partners at the Dalhousie School of Public Administration.
This speaks to me about action leadership and what can happen when people use initiative to build collaborative relationships.
