Today, I had a remarkably positive service experience with RBC Life that got me thinking about our industry's potential. Let me share the details:
Sophia, a vibrant RBC front-line service rep, brightened my day from the start. In an era where customer service calls can be routed anywhere in the world, I was pleasantly surprised to learn she was just around the corner in Mississauga. This unexpected proximity sparked a playful moment. I jokingly suggested, "Since we're so close, maybe we could just open our windows and shout to make these changes!" Sophia's infectious laughter filled the line, setting a cheerful tone for our entire interaction. Her enthusiasm was contagious, transforming what could have been a routine call into a genuinely enjoyable experience.
The service was impressively efficient: I asked to update an address over the phone - done with a smile. I inquired about adding a contingent beneficiary - form sent promptly. I requested an updated policy copy - form sent without hesitation.
Every answer was spot-on, and the system worked like a charm. (I attribute this partly to RBC's relatively recent entry into life insurance, avoiding complex legacy systems, and their learning from PPI.)
But the real gem? I got to complete my task and focus on the next one by emailing the client. This experience reinforced a crucial lesson:
We can't provide great service without engaged clients. If they don't care, we can't care. It's too difficult to do alone.

Just curious how caring are they when it comes to assisting their terminally -ill policyholders with a Living Benefit Loan in their Term to 100 policies? Same question for their elderly life policyholders who need to pay for Home Health Care - would they give them an Advance like CUMIS does?
