COLLABORATION: WHEN THE SUM IS GREATER THAN ITS PARTS . . .

Over the last two weeks, a few opportunities have suddenly opened up for me. It’s still in the early stages of discussion, but I’m excited as they present opportunities to collaborate—something which I’m deeply convicted about. This is welcome news after my major project at the church pastoral centre.
I believe that collaboration becomes even more critical in these difficult and uncertain times. By working together, we can rethink approaches and strategies together, tapping on each other’s skills and experience to achieve better results.
But collaboration first starts with active networking and building relationships. It cannot happen overnight.; we have to be proactive, sincere, and patient in cultivating relationships, being genuinely interested in what people do and working from there.
As we get to know each other’s skills and value, and explore ways to collaborate, we must keep one focus in mind, that is: how can we work together to deliver concrete solutions, resulting in a win-win solution for all parties.
Whilst some collaborations may never materialize, we can learn from the process. Perhaps, we may discover that new skillsets need to be developed to increase one’s market value. Or, perhaps a need to rethink one’s business approach.
In short, we can always turn it into a positive experience by learning from it, and emerging stronger. Sometimes, it just also helps to also laugh about it and to just move on. Life is too short to wallow in self-pity.
I look forward to these projects knowing that new milestones will be made whilst developing new skills and talents.
