The Collaboration

The Collaboration

The army undergoes the toughest training, they enter the battleground once in a while fighting the enemy outside.

People in the Corporates with pampered training, are in the battleground almost everyday fighting within the firm.??

At the raw age of 16 – 18 years, somewhere in India, the Leadership Journey begins for the 3% students who will become Cadets upon selection for one of the Largest Institute & in less than 10 years in their career, each one of them will be actual Leaders leading a battalion or a Paltan or a Team of Champions somewhere.

While at the same time, lakhs of students would be clueless about what to do in their life. In 10 years, most of them will be working for Corporates and each one will aim to become a Leader & climb the Corporate Ladder.

Which one do you think will be a better Leader in Life? Both are totally different arenas and there can be no comparison. I am sure many would get this thought. Allow me to explain.

I am sure there is no comparison, but there are many similarities, Corporates build the nation, and the Army protects the nation. The people in Corporates contribute to the overall development of the country as much as the Army ensures every citizen sleeps well & ever ready to sacrifice their life for the country.

But, Have you ever heard of Army Politics? Rare Possibility, isn’t it? Ever heard of Corporate Politics? Everyday! Someone is always pulling someone else down, someone is always jealous of someone's progress.

In the Army across the Globe, the success as well as the survival of each member depends purely on collaboration of the team.? Every Army teaches 2 things, Self-Discipline and Collaboration.

But honestly speaking, can collaboration be taught at all? Corporates spend lakhs of rupees on training their team on Collaborative working yet fail to achieve the desired results.? Team Work & Interpersonal Skills Program are one of the highest paid Programs in the Corporates.

More than 90% People who join the army are 12th Pass students with No Management course or training on building Leadership skills. More than 40 % Corporate Employees attend regular Management Programs including MBA & Team Building workshops. Yet one of the biggest problems every Corporate faces is People Management & Internal Conflicts.

One of the first things the Army teaches is self-discipline, a person with no self-discipline will always be a burden on everyone, the second lesson is, Your team is your responsibility. You Win as a team.

What if they are not self-disciplined? The Punishments are so hard and tough, either they become disciplined or they leave, there is no other adjustments.? The Army understands that there can never be a Leader without Discipline.?

How to teach team members to Collaborate & work together??

Real collaboration is not required inside the Corporates, It is required within the Corporates.

What if, Corporates focus on building the right process at the entry level where the first 2- 3 years every candidate gets rigorous training & is made ready for leadership roles.

Big Question is why should they do it? What if the person gets trained and leaves? This will benefit the firm where he joins.

This is why Collaboration within corporations is required.? Imagine a candidate trained by someone else joins your firm. You get a trained employee for free.

From the Indian Army, there are cadets who join the Airforce or Navy, I am sure they are not thinking about the loss behind training that cadet. Ultimately the purpose is met. He will serve the nation one day.?

Market competition is tough. We cannot have brain drain at a cost.?

Yes, there is competition everywhere. Infact one of the biggest competitions is in Talent hiring where Corporates spend Lakhs of rupees to get the right candidate onboard.

Yes, this may take time but only if Corporates Collaborate there can be an Indian Leadership Team that can be created which can lay down processes that will increase the contribution towards the economy & in return benefit everyone.

“My personal belief, Leaders are created on the battlefield or in the field, the boardroom creates a Speaker”.

Thank You.
