Collaboration Cards. An experiment, a diary.

Collaboration Cards. An experiment, a diary.

I was lucky enough to attend Alistair Cockburn's 3 day Advanced Agile Masterclass last week. Amidst the many insights, penny drop moments and excruciatingly precise debating - we were gifted with a pack of Collaboration Cards (more here).

We 'played' the cards on day two when we saw that tactic to elicit collaboration either used (or violated by some who will remain nameless) which was quite a neat 'Shu' level trick to familarise ourselves with the cards. AC suggested that we take a card a day and observe its usage and look to play it ourselves.

So a series of posts will gather up my thoughts and reflections on doing this over the next month or so... days 1 and 2 below with a day 3 teaser.

Day one - 16/9 - Add Humour (INCREASE SAFETY)

Quite easy; my go to card. Humour draws others in; being something that I do often though, the impact wasn't a strong as another card I 'played' where it wasn't expect to as part of my style which drew a deeper insight.

Day two - 19/9 - Challenge (ADD ENERGY)

Harder this time; mixture of the day and the culture. I think there were time I felt loathe to challenge. Asking the right questions, in the right way, isn't simple. Found use for 'get one result' during the day.

Day three - 20/9 - Show You Won't Hurt (INCREASE SAFETY)

Coming up tomorrow...
