In exploring the relationship between artificial intelligence and human intelligence, the recent emergence of generative AI raises questions about its ability to match or even surpass human intelligence.
Our understanding of AI concepts in relation to human intelligence, and the similarities we observe between them, tends to place them in competition, or at the very least, in opposition.
The recent advent of generative AI has propelled advanced information processing technologies onto a trajectory that suggests they may be capable of imitating, replacing, or even surpassing the workings of human intelligence in the long term.
While technological advancements may support this discussion, it remains intrinsically linked with societal and ethical dimensions, as well as philosophical, linguistic, ethnological, neurological considerations.
But does AI really rise to the level of human intelligence?
When you think about it, it's easy to see that AI is still incapable of reproducing human cognitive abilities, such as creativity, imagination, empathy or moral judgment, to name but a few. AI cannot yet perceive or understand the world in the same way as humans.
When comparing human and artificial skills, it is crucial to recognize the fundamental distinction between the "generation" produced by AI and the "creation" resulting from human reflection. This distinction lies in the inherent nature of their respective processes.
Generative AI excels at "generating" content using models previously trained on huge datasets. It utilizes existing information to extrapolate and produce new results. Despite its complexity, its underlying processes are fundamentally grounded in previously learned patterns.
In contrast, human "creation" involves deep understanding, intuition, emotion and personal experience of the world. Humans have the ability to combine not only information, but also ideas, emotions and concepts in a comprehensive way, far beyond the limits of pre-existing data. Human creation is often tinged with subjectivity, cultural context and personal emotional nuance. It is these aspects that make it unique and difficult to reproduce synthetically.
So, when we compare AI to human intelligence in a way that tends to devalue our abilities, Aurelien Grosdidier tells us that "we are consenting to reduce the reflexive perception of our intelligence in action to the functional manifestations of AI".??
It's crucial to move beyond the idea of competition between AI and humans.?
Rather than participating in an arm-wrestling match, the challenge lies in understanding technological developments and making judicious use of AI to exploit its advantages with regard to corporate strategy or our personal objectives.?
The idea must be to bring out positive synergies from the human/AI collaboration, by putting technology at the service of enhancing human capabilities. AI can amplify human strengths like cultural understanding, creativity, and emotional sensitivity bringing:

These assets collectively contribute to increasing human capabilities in various fields. They foster a complementary relationship between man and AI.
CONCLUSION
Our human intelligence transcends mere mechanical functionality, regardless of its sophistication or power.
By embracing the synergies between human and AI, we must create a future where intelligent and ethical collaboration prevail. In doing so, we will put ourselves in a position to unleash the emergence of innovative solutions while preserving what makes humanity unique.
