Cold Weather Tips

Cold weather Tip:

Turn off all outside water fixtures at the shut off in basement, would not hurt to install covers on them.

If you have a sink/fixture you don't use frequently you may want to open it to a drip with the extreme cold coming to region. An active drip will prevent freezing pipe.

Make sure that you clear snow from your furnace exhaust if you have high efficient system (comes out the basement versus chimney).

If you normally salt your driveway and sidewalks make sure to use products with Magnesium Chloride versus the normal (cheap salt) which stops working at about 5 degrees. The more expensive products work well below 0 and more pet friendly.
