I have been in real estate for over 50 years and this year is a pip. For the third year in a row there has been extreme cold weather up North. Likewise down here in Florida we seem to have summer all year long with 70 to 80 degree temperatures from September through January so far. That means a lot of Baby Boomers (I am one of those) are tied of being cold and high heating bills.

The old saying "Go West Young man and Find Your Fortune" has now turned into "Go South Old Folks and Find the Sunshine" I am getting 2 to 4 calls a day from people looking for a home in sunny Florida. But there is a BUT in all this. For some reason they believe Florida is the Third World and they will find the perfect home in the $35,000 to $50,000 range and can't understand why I can't find a waterfront, single family home in their price range. This is American folks and Florida has 4 of the top 5 cites for growth.

Others who can afford prime waterfront have sticker shock when I tell them what Flood Insurance will cost them for waterfront........even I am daunted by those rates.

But for Florida and the cadre of my Real estate Broker brethren it is a busy time and we hope those winter storms keep on coming.
