I take ice-cold showers…
Turned all the way full-blast cold.
Every single day.
No matter whether I’m on the East Coast, West Coast, Europe or anywhere else.
No matter if there’s 10 feet of snow outside. Irrespective of the weather.
I’ve done this for years.
Why?
There are so many benefits. Here are just a few, it: toughens and strengthens the will; shocks the body and releases neuro-cocktails and endorphins; saves energy and therefore the planet; closes the pores (versus opening like hot water does), so that boatloads of toxic chemicals placed in the water don’t get into open pores.
I could go on, but it’s not really the point of the post today.
The point is that even after all these years of discipline and practice, there are still mornings when I have hesitation, sometimes even dread, of getting in the cold water.
It’s human.
But moving past small ego-comforts builds resilience and strength.
How you do anything is how you do everything.
Even the most mundane things like showers.
The anticipation of the cold is most often WAY more intense than the actual experience of the cold; and I feel absolutely GREAT when I’m done.
Kind of like life, right?
Imagination nearly always trumps reality.
You just have to go all in.
Don’t think and analyze.
Just do!
Just turn it up and jump!
