Cold Email Tactics That Work

Cold Email Tactics That Work

To craft an email that gets noticed, have these three things in mind:

1. Write about your Advantage: People usually check their emails routinely to catch anything that can distract them from actual work.?

Email users check emails as much as 20 times daily! The problem is many scroll through absent-mindedly because most of the emails are boring.?

You can stand out if your email is crafted to speak to what makes your brand interesting or if your latest project sounds like a nice read.?

For example, “We recently gave a presentation at DubaiFest on new systems that tripled the exposure for some of our clients, like IBM, Google, and Lyft.” This example will elicit a lot of questions that will make your prospect keep reading. What happened at DubaiFest? What system might this be? Wow! Google is using the system?

Everybody likes a nice read. Craft one.

2. Write plain English: By writing plain English, your email will be simple and clear. Plain English is written with the reader in mind, using the right tone. Plain English involves using active words. Active words are faster to write and read.?

When writing, be less formal in your expression. Many salespeople tend to express themselves more formally than they would if speaking.?

For example, chatting with a prospect, you may say, “Congrats on the national award received by your firm," but in an email, you find yourself writing, "I wish to congratulate you on the recognition of your firm at the national awards’. Don’t do this!

Take a look at other examples:

Write: Jane? decided

Instead of

Write: We can improve your systems.

Instead of

Our systems are assisting in forwarding your queries.?

Write: Our systems will forward your queries.

Prospects today have many documents to read and a low attention span. Trying to decipher your long-tail sentences with big words will wear them out. Write your emails with a direct message and make them courteous and brief.

3. Close Strongly: A strong close sets the tone for the next steps and action. Don’t write so well and leave the prospect wondering what to do next.?

A strong close in our case involves requesting feedback on the email and giving specific dates for combined next steps, e.g., can we set up a demo at your office after Independence break? Is next week a good one for an online meeting??

As easy as this sounds, if not crafted properly, it might cause a little friction. We advise working with a simple framework that gives your prospects a range of specific options.??

If you keep to these simple rules we outlined above, you’ll become a master at writing a killer cold email in minutes.
