Cold email to grow your email list

Cold email to grow your email list

Why aren’t more B2B founders using cold email to grow their email list?

Because they think cold email is only for selling.

Wrong move.

Here’s a simple system I use to grow my list with cold email — without sounding spammy.

→ Step 1: Create an irresistible lead magnet

Think checklist, template, or mini-guide.

Something your ideal customer would actually trade their email for.

→ Step 2: Define your 10x customer

Who are they? Where do they hang out? What do they struggle with?

Use the Hyperniche Matrix to lock this in.

→ Step 3: Use ListKit or Apollo to get targeted contacts

Clean the data with Clearout or Truelist (no excuses here)

→ Step 4: Craft a simple, non-salesy cold email

Keep it under 100 words.

Make it helpful, human, and high-value.

Example:

Hey {first name},

Saw you’re doing {X} – I made a free {template/tool} that helps with {Y}.

Happy to share it if you’re interested – no sales pitch, promise.

→ Step 5: Send it using Smartlead

Warm up your inbox.

Send 50-100/day.

Rinse and repeat.

→ Step 6: Add them to your welcome sequence

Send a warm, helpful sequence using Kit – my go-to email tool.

Turn that cold lead into a loyal subscriber.

This works.

It’s how I got my first 1,000 newsletter subs.

No ads. No fluff. Just systems.
