Cold Calling is Dead? Really?

Recently I have seen many professionals "digital marketers" or "sales" quoting Cold Calling is dead. Let me be very candid its not and the reason of why they say is because sales rep who are afraid of picking up the phone and doing the hard work and "digital marketers" - well its just creating more opportunities for them so no complain here.

I don't deny digital marketing is effective, it is indeed a important aspect of marketing and every company should adopt digital marketing. My argument with digital marketing is DEALS don't come through email or pay per click campaign they are only a medium to generate leads, contacts and to educate your target audience. Deals close over the phone, it needs human to human conversation.

Enterprise sales or B2B sales is difficult, its not easy to crack a deal however consistency in making no. of calls supplement with demand generation through digital marketing is what gets the best result. A successful sales rep has to be focused on doing as many effective meetings as possible with decision makers, influencers in the target companies and these meetings don't come through digital marketing, someone has to pick up the phone and set up an appointment.

Sales rep who is afraid of making calls should change their profession because they will fail every time they think sending 100's or 1000's emails a day will get them a deal.

A good sales rep will always have dedicated time in his schedule to make calls, regardless how busy their day is.
