Cold Call Portraits

"Would Chris Buck make my portrait?"

I?received two emails the same week asking if I accepted commissions from individuals.?I answered, "Yes," and here are the results.

Mic Nguyen is a stand-up comedian, and Scott Cameron a producer for Sesame Street. They weren't coming to me for a new headshot, or a professional profile picture, but for something truly creative and adventurous. This was a chance to push beyond the expected, perhaps even try some ideas too wild for celebrities.

For both shoots I came up with concepts that were visual and dynamic but what I did not count on was the performances, and the personalities, of the respective sitters bringing warmth and humanity, elevating the final photographs.
