COHESIVE
This word has been front and center of my professional thoughts for almost 6 months now.?
My work has almost always been focused on the intersection of People, Process, and Technology. Have I ever, prior to now, thought about the Cohesiveness of them, or just the Intersection??
In past years, the concepts of breaking down silos and creating synergies have been aspects of my work. I feel now is the time to take it further, and really work on creating a cohesive operation. A recent project to document an onboarding process brought much of this to light. From within the HR function to beyond with IT, Facilities, Security, etc, there was almost no cohesiveness in the process. This not only extended the onboarding to Day 1, but also interrupted the new hire’s ability to begin contributing, sometimes up to 1 week later.?
The common thread I see is cross-functional operation failure. This isn’t new by any means; but excellence has yet to be achieved, and perhaps a new approach is necessary.
The experiences I have had in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Knowledge Management, Corporate Communication, Corporate Media, Robotic Process Automation, and Enterprise Workflow have shown me how vital a cohesive operation is, and also how fragile it can be.?
I am #opentowork looking for a place to achieve cross-functional operational excellence.?
What are your thoughts on Cohesiveness? What else needs to be considered? Who in an organization should be the owner/curator of cohesiveness. All thoughts welcomed.
