Cognizant Microsoft Business Group created new Cloud Application for Suffolk Construction

At Microsoft’s Power Platform Conference in Las Vegas earlier this month, Leon Welicki – Chief Product Officer, Power Apps, Microsoft along with Kevin Watts and Doug Myers from Suffolk Construction presented a ground-breaking intelligent and modern cloud application that Cognizant Microsoft Business Group created for Suffolk.

This multi-device app, designed for the construction industry combined Power Platform, Azure, Office and Copilot enabled Suffolk’s service partners secure access to their systems for safety, time entry, check in, check out, and connections to their other systems. With a web and phone interface, subcontractors are identified, badged, given appropriate levels of access, and their work on site is tracked.

One of the unique features of this app is that it is designed for contractors, not employees. This created a number of security challenges that we were able to solve with support from Microsoft. The app also allows verifications of certifications and information on contractor skills to be accessed while they’re on site. Microsoft was there to support us and help us leverage a range of technologies to create this game changing app. We were able to complete this project in an efficient, timely way; about a year from concept to the work site.

The ability to securely onboard contractors on worksites will support Suffolk Construction’s 50,000 subcontractors on hundreds of projects across America. In addition to security, the technology will support safety on site by pushing notifications about potential issues to the app, and support expediency by allowing reporting and identifying of issues in need of quick repair, like live wires, for example.

When we combine Power Platform, Azure, Office, and Copilot there is no limit to what we can build! This complex modern and intelligent multi-device app using all Microsoft’s latest innovations is a great example of how Cognizant as a trusted partner can leverage technology and break new ground that supports security, safety, and efficiencies.
