Cognilytica’s AI-Enabled Vision of the Future (Part 1 of 5)

Back in 2018, when at the time we thought AI hype couldn’t get any more hype-y, we at Cognilytica spent time thinking about what the broad implications of AI would be on our individual lives, our business and work lives, and on society in general. This thinking led us to put together our four-part vision we called the “AI-Enabled Vision of the Future ”.

In that article, we explained that we need a vision for the future of AI since the pace of AI was moving quickly, and we saw? “way too much opportunism, bandwagon jumping, and outright deception from vendors that are taking advantage of this wave of interest to peddle their wares with the thinnest “AI” capabilities, if they have any at all.”

Sadly, we are still seeing too much bandwagon jumping. But, at the same time, we’ve seen a dramatic, transformational impact of AI across the board. Generative AI has greatly accelerated and brought to the forefront AI’s impactful changes across all aspects of our lives.

So with that, now is the time to revisit our original four-part vision of the AI-enabled future and determine if some of our vision of the future has already come to pass -? that is to say we’re living in that vision now in the present -? or if some aspects are still to come to pass in the future, or perhaps things have changed in which we won’t see those impacts at all.

?? In this newsletter series, we’ll explore the core aspects of our AI-enabled vision of the future and see where things are heading. We’re all on this journey together, so let’s jump on board.

The Four-Part AI-Enabled Vision of the Future: An Overview

From Cognilytica’s perspective, we see AI as being an important, transformational change agent not only to the way business is done, but also to the way people live their daily lives. But, what does that future look like when everything has been transformed? Today, we live in an era of uncertainty and fear. However in the future, when AI has achieved its transformational effect, what does that future look like?

?? From this perspective, we see four major transformational movements impacting all aspects of our lives with AI:?

The four major components to Cognilytica’s AI-enabled vision of the future include:

• The AI-Enhanced Organization: In this component of the vision of the future, we address the core questions: What does the future look like when AI is a core component of almost every business process, task, operation, activity? What does the future look like when organizations not only leverage AI to provide value, but depend on AI to stay competitive in rapidly changing markets? What does the future of work look like for people in the job market?
• Augmented (Autonomous) Everything: In this component of the vision of the future, we focus on what it means when we use AI to augment everything we’re interacting with and have made autonomous as many different things we interact with as possible. What does augmented and autonomous everything mean for our daily lives? What does it mean for society?
• Enhancing the Human Experience: In this component of the vision of the future, we look at what the future looks like when we’re using AI in all aspects of our daily human experience. What does human creativity look like in the future? How does using AI in our everyday lives impact our relationships and society at large? How does AI impact communication and the way we interact?
• Pervasive Knowledge: In this component of the vision of the future, we look at what the future looks like when we’ve collected such vast amounts of data, built a limitless number of models, and implemented AI in so many systems that knowledge and data is everywhere. What does that mean for how systems are hyperpersonalized for our needs? What are the impacts of surveillance and privacy? How will that impact the way governments and organizations deliver services and benefits? How will that impact the cohesiveness of society??

The future with AI is coming… perhaps sooner or later than expected. In our vision of the future, this is what we see as inevitable in many ways. So, putting aside our fears and concerns of today, where do we see things heading in the AI-enabled future?
