Coffee Grounds for a Gardener's Dream

Within each of us, there exist fragments of one another's essence, intertwined through our shared experiences. I am the culmination of my interactions with the world around me, carefully sifting through them to retain what holds value while letting go of the rest. This principle reverberates throughout our organization. Our very existence today stands as a testament to the fusion of our individual journeys and the connections we have forged with clients and partners.

At SOAR, we embrace the metaphor of gardeners, meticulously tending to the soil in which our clients and partners can thrive. In turn, our partners also assume the role of cultivators, nurturing the ground that fosters our own growth. These invaluable partnerships take shape in diverse forms, encompassing family, friends, subcontractors, vendors, and landlords.

In this article, I want to express our profound gratitude for one particular partner, Industrious, our esteemed landlord company, and shine a spotlight on an exceptional individual within their team. Industrious has meticulously crafted an office environment that exudes warmth and support. Despite possessing the ability to accomplish 80% of our work remotely, we find ourselves spending an overwhelming majority of our time, between 80% and 90%, within their inviting premises. Furthermore, our primary office benefits from the services of a cleaning company with an incredibly friendly and helpful crew. Among them, Maritza stands out as one of our cherished individuals.

Recently, Maritza displayed her thoughtfulness by remembering our CEO's fondness for gardening and sharing the wisdom that coffee grounds contribute significantly to plant growth. As I was engrossed in a phone call within my office, Maritza knocked on my door. Recognizing her, I warmly invited her in. To our delightful surprise, she arrived bearing coffee grounds from the end-of-day coffee maker. Although we had not requested this gesture, Maritza's innate understanding of the joy it would bring to our CEO propelled her to act spontaneously.

This touching incident prompted us to contemplate the countless small gestures we can undertake to enrich the lives of both our clients and employees without excessive deliberation. By acknowledging that they are multifaceted human beings with lives extending beyond work, we can unlock a wellspring of compassion that naturally fuels positive outcomes.
