Did you know about 120 million small-scale farmers and farm workers world-wide people rely on coffee for their livelihoods? Typically, coffee is grown on steep slopes which can lead to erosion and sedimentation of waterways. Processing coffee is water-intensive, and the wastewater can contaminate rivers and streams. Taken together, these practices quickly become unsustainable and harmful to our planet.

Coffee grown with regenerative practices can sequester carbon emissions and restore the natural balance between soil, plants, water and animals. In the past month we've taken time to chat with guests on the Essential Ingredients Podcast that are all about bringing sustainable, tasty coffee to our morning brew.

This week on the Essential Ingredients Podcast we are speaking with Melissa Villanueva , founder of Brewpoint Coffee . Brewpoint Coffee's vision is to be a nationally known specialty coffee brand that showcases its success through equitable collaborations; culminating in a coffee brand that offers a support system for other black, brown and women owned specialty coffee businesses.
