With regard to the measurement of the flow rates in the gates and in general in any device where there is a contraction of the flow tube, it is imperative to use the concept of coefficient of contraction.
The experimental determinations of such coefficients, even for the same system, present large variations, so that a coefficient would be required for each flow.
In the present work an analytical method is developed for the calculation of the theoretical contraction coefficient in a bidimensional gate, using the theory of the complex variable of the Conformal Transformation;
A mathematical algorithm that can be applied to engineering software such as Mathcad and/or Matlab.
