We have yet to see what effect, if any, the change in Government will have on the manufacturing sector. How will the new administration deal with the industrial sector, and will it have any new initiatives that might benefit the sector? In the meantime, a new survey indicates that UK manufacturers are in a bullish mood, posting their strongest production forecasts since early 2022. The S&P Global UK Business Outlook survey reports that manufacturers are predicting improved revenues which will, in turn, support rises in hiring and investment. Senior S&P economist, David Owen, says that the jump in confidence “suggests that the sector should provide greater strength to the domestic economy in the near term, mirroring recent PMI data showing an increase in production levels”. This is just the sort of news the incoming Government will want to hear.
