No Code – No Game?

No Code – No Game?

*Bonus video about MVP development at the end ??

Could you build an app without knowing how to code? Can a startup thrive using tools that require zero tech skills? Today, I want to guide you through the success stories of startups and companies that have opted for no-code tools (and become successful) to prove that the power of no-code development is real.

I've selected 8 software examples built using no-code tools like Webflow, Bubble, Adalo, Glide and Softr, along with additional tools like Zapier, Airtable, and HubSpot.

But first, some quick intro, why basically, to consider no-code tools at all for your business?

No-code tools allow businesses to validate solutions quickly, accelerate app development, and introduce their products to the market for valuable feedback. And it’s not a secret, of course, that they significantly reduce development costs and speed up the process, making them ideal for young businesses with limited budgets.

Here's a look at how no-code startups and companies have made their mark without writing a single line of code.

Teal?

Teal, founded by David Fano, helps people improve their job search outcomes by organizing their job hunt activities. From the start, no-code was integral to Teal's approach. They launched the platform using Bubble, which allowed for better design control and faster iteration.?

Teal's setup included Bubble for the main product, Typeform for surveys, Airtable for database management, and Zapier to connect everything. They used Webflow for their website.

The founder believes traditional mockups can't validate product demand, but a no-code MVP can. It speeds up development, allows for rapid testing, and helps find a product-market fit quickly.

May 20, 2024 – Teal announced an $8M seed investment to develop next-gen accounting products for vertical SaaS (source: Business Wire).

Comet?

Launched in 2016, Comet is a highly successful no-code startup. It’s a freelancing marketplace that attributes its rapid growth to no-code platforms. Charles Thomas, a non-technical founder, built and launched the core landing pages using Bubble.io, allowing Comet to scale quickly and help freelancers deliver over 300 projects, achieving an average MRR of $800k.

Over the last five years, Comet has assisted over 1,000 companies in hiring tech talent. Notable clients include Renault, LVMH, Société Générale, BNP, Payfit, and Allianz.

Comet has raised a total of €17M in funding over five rounds, with the latest funding raised on June 10, 2022. The startup is supported by 11 investors, with FJ Labs and Otium Capital being the most recent backers.

Seagate?

Seagate, a leader in data storage, utilizes Bubble to develop various internal and customer-facing applications, ranging from device provisioning to subscription management.?

Michael Ong, an experienced Bubble developer and product manager on Seagate’s Lyve team, spearheaded the use of Bubble, significantly reducing development time and costs. The success of Bubble in building internal tools led Seagate to rebuild a major customer-facing subscription hub on the platform, achieving completion in four and a half months compared to the traditional development team’s three years.

Seagate’s Lyve Admin Console, which includes 11 micro-apps, was launched in just two months on Bubble, showcasing the platform’s flexibility and security. Following this, Seagate decided to use Bubble for the customer-facing Lyve Management Portal, streamlining processes and integrating with systems like Salesforce, Zuora, and SAP.?

Seagate Technology has raised a total of $2.3B in funding over 4 rounds. Their latest funding was raised on Sep 8, 2023 from a Post-IPO Debt round.

Dani Bell marveled at the ease and affordability of no-code development. It's incredible how these tools have democratized building software. What once was exclusive is now accessible.?

Scribly employs Webflow for the website, Airtable for database management, and Zapier for system integration. This straightforward yet powerful workflow has proven highly effective.

Flexiple?

Flexiple, a global talent platform, relies on Bubble to connect tech talent with job opportunities worldwide. This innovative approach enabled the company to raise $4 million in seed funding and $122 million in total funding, all for a solution developed with no-code tools. To create and launch an MVP for 3,000 users, Bloom employed Typeform, Airtable, Retool, and Webflow.

Dividend Finance?

Dividend Finance is a no-code success story that has revolutionized the renewable energy and home improvement financing industry. Led by Eric White and Steve Michella, Dividend Finance assists homeowners in securing financing for home improvements and renewable energy solutions. Using Bubble, the platform launched a no-code MVP, which has processed over $1 billion in sales.

The company has attracted over $384 million in investments from Credit Suisse and LL Funds, and has received numerous awards in the fintech industry. Dividend Finance's innovative approach and success highlight the transformative potential of no-code tools in the financial sector.

Summing up

Due to TechCrunch 60% of all app development should have happened using no-code platforms by 2024. So far, I still believe that 60% are not reached, but they’re quickly reaching this mark.

The no-code community is growing, making software development accessible to non-technical founders and employees. While building a no-code product requires basic familiarity with software development, these platforms enable users to test ideas, build quickly, save time, and launch with small teams and lower budgets.

However, no-code tools aren't suitable for every product idea and offer limited customization options. Choose a no-code tool when you have a specific problem that technology can solve, and consider essential business infrastructure elements like team size, runway, location, and supply chain to ensure successful implementation.

A few more words about MVPs

Voypost was founded in 2018 as a B2C product startup focused on travel and parcel delivery. At that time, no-code tools were not that popular. Later on, Voypost pivoted several times before establishing a service in 2019 to assist other startups with MVP development.?

Now, we share our expertise through YouTube tips on MVP development. Enjoy! ??

Love the title! Great topic! I could also add noii to this list, a swiss dating startup. They started with Bubble, if I remember correctly and leveraged no-code for the proof of concept and even the first several 1000 users.
