So today let's have a look at the most innocent question
Tell me more about yourself
This is a sure shot question that you are going to face no matter what interview you are giving, and this question gives you the perfect opportunity to leave the “perfect first impression” on the interviewer.
What mistakes do people do?
?? No prior preparation
?? Over confidence of thinking that "I can answer this on spot"
?? No specific answer in mind for this question
?? Unprepared for the question, you are likely to stumble up and end up telling bullshit stories from past.
Mistake that most people do
Telling generic things which are already given in resume
Like:
"Hello, I am "xyz", I am from"Jaipur", I like playing badminton, I studied in "abc school" and so on"
Even a fifth standard child would give a better introduction, and just think, why would the interviewer be interested in knowing which school you were in in your 10th standard? ??
*So what to do?*
Clearly, it is a very important question which must not be answered with randomly. A good answer to this question would start with a small greeting followed by your qualifications and how you are the best fit for the job.
Most focus on the part where you tell "how you are the best fit for the job."
Thing to keep in mind
Sell what the buyer wants to buy!
(Match your abilities with the needs of the employer)
Do a little homework on what is the job requirements, Find out about the role and what all skills are needed for that role. If your skills match the role, perfect, if not then don’t lie but try to focus on the similar roles you’ve taken up in past which would help you learn the requirements for this role at a very fast pace.
After uncovering what the employer is looking for, describe why the needs of this job fit with your profile, take examples of the tasks and jobs you have succeeded in before, give some examples of your responsibilities and achievements etc.
Once you've found out the needs, and you think you are fit for the role, then be confident, and believe in yourself. ??
Ofcourse I am not an expert, so I would be more than happy if you all share your views in the comments section :)
