Coconuts?? vs. Sharks??

Coconuts?? vs. Sharks??

Today I was told that more people are killed by falling coconuts than sharks each year.

Imagine you are lying on the beach, chilling under a coconut tree, and someone leans over and whispers this into your ear. I tried to fact-check this on Google. Different sources show different results, and the time frames of the statistics don't match, so I have to suspend my judgment on this. However, this reminds me of something else:

Movies and news often portray plane crashes as catastrophic events, making it easy to overestimate their likelihood, but this is total irrationality. The drive to the airport is far riskier than the flight itself. Statistically, cars are far more dangerous than planes.

Know your risks. Question every statistic.
