Coastal Cities Threat - Possibly Soon

There are of course those who deny climate change, or that famously only refer to it as "global warming" and then dismiss it when there is a weather event such as the polar vortex gripping much of the U.S.

The already emerged and potential future impacts of climate change include catastrophic ones. Among those are very large changes in sea level that threaten large coastal cities in the event of significant melting of polar ice. That appears to be a very realistic possibility and in the near future. To learn more of a significant possible near-term threat of this sort read this brief article.

I believe it is approximately two-thirds the surface area of the earth is covered by water. Of course most of that is accounted for by oceans / seas -- but not all. Depth is highly variable.? I agree that 2 feet seems "amazing", but in some sense the real point is that just a few inches makes a truly devastating difference in some areas. Sea walls work in some areas (e.g., the Netherlands), but not all.

What's the volumeetric value for the ice shelf and even then with the displacement across the globe, i find that hard to believe that the levels will rise 2 feet

Trying to get my head round this. 7/8ths of the surface area of the planet is covered by water. An ice shelf the size of Florida will raise global sea levels by 2 feet? Really
