A Coach's Role in Adversity
One of the key ways that coaching can help people overcome adversity is by providing a safe and supportive environment for exploration and growth. Many individuals who are facing adversity may feel isolated or misunderstood, and may not have a supportive network of friends or family to turn to for help. A coach, on the other hand, is trained to listen non-judgmentally and provide a space for clients to express their thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment or criticism.
In this supportive environment, individuals can begin to identify the challenges and obstacles that are holding them back. This can be an important step in the process of overcoming adversity, as it allows individuals to gain a greater understanding of their situation and develop strategies for addressing their challenges.
One key aspect of coaching is goal-setting. By working with a coach to set clear, achievable goals, individuals can create a roadmap for overcoming adversity and achieving their desired results. This can be especially helpful for those who may be feeling overwhelmed or unsure of how to move forward.
Coaching can also help individuals develop new skills and strategies for dealing with adversity. For example, a coach may work with a client to develop problem-solving skills, communication skills, or time management strategies. These skills can be invaluable when it comes to navigating challenging situations and achieving success.
In addition to helping individuals overcome adversity, coaching can also lead to amazing results. By setting clear goals and working with a coach to develop a plan for achieving them, individuals can make significant progress towards their objectives. This can be especially helpful for those who may be feeling stuck or unsure of how to move forward.
One of the key benefits of coaching is the accountability it provides. A coach can help hold clients accountable to their goals and encourage them to stay on track. This can be especially important when dealing with adversity, as it can be easy to get discouraged or lose motivation.
Overall, coaching is a valuable resource for anyone looking to overcome adversity and achieve amazing results. Whether you are seeking to improve your personal or professional life, a coach can provide the guidance and support you need to make meaningful progress and reach your goals. So, it can be a very effective tool to help people overcome adversity and achieve amazing results, and to be amazing in any field requires support.
It doesn't matter if you're trying to become an elite business person, an elite Tennis player, or a Movie star or Singer... all the best of them engage with coaches along the way to their greatness.
While it can be helpful to have supportive friends, it's important to recognise that there are limitations to what they can offer. Friends may not have the training or expertise to provide guidance on specific challenges or goals, and may not be able to offer the same level of accountability as a life coach. Often times we'll find out later that our friends have 'people-pleased' to keep on your good side, rather than give you the feed back you may have asked for or simply needed, especially if you haven't been careful as to who's in your social circle yet.
On the other hand, a life coach is a trained professional who is specifically focused on helping clients achieve their goals and overcome challenges. They are skilled at listening and providing support, but they are also able to offer more structured guidance and accountability.
Additionally, engaging with a life coach can provide a level of confidentiality and objectivity that may not be possible with friends. A life coach is bound by a code of ethics to keep client conversations and information confidential, which can be important for those who may be dealing with sensitive or personal issues.
Ultimately, the decision of whether to work with a life coach or rely on friends for support will depend on the individual's specific needs and circumstances. Some people may find that a combination of both is most effective, while others may prefer to work with a life coach for more targeted and structured support.
The financial investment in a life coach can serve as a motivator for clients to fully commit to the process. When people pay for a service, they are more likely to value it and make the most of the opportunity. This can be especially true when it comes to coaching, as the process can require a significant time and energy commitment.
Additionally, paying for a life coach can help people prioritise their goals and focus on achieving them. By investing in coaching, individuals may be more likely to prioritise their personal and professional development, and to make the necessary time and effort to make progress.
Finally, the financial investment in a life coach can also serve as a symbol of commitment. By paying for coaching, individuals are demonstrating that they are serious about making changes and achieving their goals. This can be an important step in the process of overcoming adversity and achieving success.

It's worth noting, however, that the financial investment in a life coach is just one factor that can help people engage with the process. Other factors, such as the quality of the coaching relationship and the client's own level of motivation and commitment, are actually more important than the financial engagement, however the nature of us humans is that it's easier to explain in writing using finances as a sense of scale of self engagement with their future building priorities.
As someone who has been burned before by some coaches, mentors and guides, there are three main red flags that I look out for;
The Green Flag you need however, is that the coach you select has personal experience in a minimum of 50% of your struggles, and has already achieved the results you seek at least twice...
Why twice?
Because anyone can make themselves a success, however it's what ones character is revealed after they've reached that point and either exited or lost it all and rebuilt, become humble enough to learn more about themselves rather than blame others is a testament to their abilities to help you, which is why I also teach about AQ, which measures ones ability to manage adversity into a gain, rather than a loss.
Why do I include 'exited'?
Because many times I see people achieve a particular milestone that they've dedicated a massive portion of their life towards, (ie a successful company sold, a gold medal at the Olympics, an Oscar award) where they achieve their moment of greatness, but didn't plan for anything after the moment in the light began to fade, and so they many times fall into depression because they didn't prepare anything else along the way... which we also see in military personnel that retire or are discharged, where they lose the sense of purpose in themselves ... not realising even then that every moment they'd already experienced was also a 'choice' in creating purpose...
In so many ways, Coaching is a powerful resource for anyone looking to overcome adversity and achieve amazing results.
It offers a safe and supportive environment for exploration and growth, and can provide the guidance and support needed to make meaningful progress and reach goals.
Through coaching, individuals can gain a greater understanding of their strengths and weaknesses, develop new skills and strategies for dealing with adversity, and set and work towards clear goals.
Overall, coaching is a valuable tool for anyone looking to overcome adversity and achieve amazing results in their personal or professional life.
