?? 85% of HR professionals consider the development of coaching skills crucial for leaders in the upcoming three years.
? Nearly 40% of leaders say they don’t get adequate coaching from their manager
?? High-potential employees are twice as likely to depart if their manager isn’t an effective coach. Only 11% of high potentials plan to leave within the next year when they receive quality coaching from their managers, compared to 20% when they don’t.
?? Cultivating a coaching culture is not only advantageous but also becoming essential for organizational success. It contributes to enhancing individual development and improving company performance, making the benefits too substantial to ignore, according to a new interesting research published by DDI | Development Dimensions International using data ?? from 1,827 human resource professionals and 13,695 leaders from 1,556 organizations around the world.
?What is a Coaching Culture?
Researchers defined a coaching culture when there is a shift away from traditional hierarchical structures towards a more empowering and collaborative approach.
?? This culture fosters open communication, active listening, and thoughtful questioning to unlock the potential of individuals and teams.
In such an environment, all team members, irrespective of their position or role, support one another in becoming their best selves by cultivating a safe space for learning, skill practice, and growth.
The coach not only strategizes, but also connects, motivates, and develops players’ skills. In the corporate world, coaching is just as vital.
?The benefits of Coaching Culture
Leaders who get quality coaching from their managers are:
But the benefits of a strong coaching culture extend far beyond individual growth. Organizations that prioritize coaching see remarkable company-wide results
?What is ACE approach?
Researchers provide a coaching model called DDI’s?ACE (Ask, Connect, Energize)?approach.
ACE is easy to remember and practiceis defined as follows:
1?? The approach focuses on Asking the coachee questions to spark innovative ideas and solutions.
2?? ACE also focuses on a key element often forgotten by other models, Connection. Establishing a connection with the coachee is crucial to developing trust.

3??Finally, “Energize” happens when the coach engages the coachee’s heart and head to bring out their best. But the coach also establishes accountability by setting up quick check-in meetings and encouraging team members to seek help from subject matter experts outside of the team.
Finally, researchers have provided five recommendations for establishing a Coaching Culture:
?? Get senior-level support.
To be successful, culture change initiatives often need to start at the top. Senior leaders need to allocate time to coach in meetings, one-on-ones, and informal conversations. But most importantly, a senior leader must be seen to “walk the walk.”
?? Give all leaders coaching skills.
The second step is to give leaders at every level coaching skills. In addition, make sure that people in informal leadership roles (such as project managers and agile leaders) have the skills to coach.
?? Encourage employees to apply coaching skills on the job.
The next step, after training, is to apply the skills on the job.
?? Create accountability.
Everyone needs to be held accountable for their role in creating a successful coaching culture. Oftentimes, leaders alone are held responsible for coaching and teaching their teams how to coach each other. But in a true coaching culture, everyone is responsible for coaching and everyone is being coached, regardless of their level.
?? Measure for effectiveness and ROI.
Finally, it is important to evaluate the effectiveness and ROI of your company’s coaching efforts.
?? ???? ???????????????? ????????:
This interesting research highlights the importance of coaching, especially in the context of hybrid work environments where both employees and managers require training in hybrid management.
Ensuring that coaching occurs at every level and as frequently as possible is crucial. Businesses will observe improved productivity, increased engagement, enhanced performance, and a more robust overall organizational culture. Establishing a coaching culture within an organization can be the key to transforming a team from merely functional to exceptional.

3 个月Nicolas BEHBAHANI these findings resonate with what we are finding in our research on how leadership requirements have changed post-COVID. Not that leaders who model and inspire a coaching culture wasn't important before, but it is even more important today--especially at first-line and mid-level. 3 个月Coaching skill is an essential for all, managers or individuals. As a manager coaching is one of the skills you need, but not the only. A coaching culture brings the awareness of moving forward and a heightened sense of awareness for individuals, a great differentiator to build self awareness and a growth mindset for all. This is crucial for anyone.

3 个月Thanks for sharing Nicolas BEHBAHANI. By far the most effective, important and most underutilized strategy to create a coaching culture: Provide professional external coaching from experienced certified leadership coaches to ALL leaders for at least 6-12 months. Especially in their first 12 months of becoming a manager. Most organisations talk about a coaching culture without having a clue of what it means. With 95% of their leaders never having experienced proper coaching techniques in action. Training about coaching tools doesn’t change anything. Knowing theory doesn’t create behavior change and lasting skill building by itself. Only a manager that has received proper coaching themselves can know what it means to apply coaching with their direct reports. Countless studies confirm this and all of our clients confirm significantly improved coaching skills as the Nr. 1 output of investing in professional coaching for leaders. The rest is just bla bla.
