According to the International Coaching Federation, coaching is a thought-provoking and creative process that uses insightful questions, reflective dialogue, and a future-oriented mindset to help individuals explore possibilities, realise untapped potential, and optimally achieve in their present circumstances.?

Having a coach who can provide objective observations, clarity, accountability, and encouragement can be invaluable, particularly if the person being coached is feeling "stuck."

Coaching is not simply for those looking for a change of circumstances. The process often allows us to see our present circumstances in a new light and make small changes that can lead to significant improvements. Coaching provides permission to dream and imagine a new future. When we have a coach, we have someone who believes in us and our potential and who is committed to helping us achieve our goals.

I was first introduced to the concept of coaching when I got a coach. I resisted. But my organisation knew better. They wanted me to experience the power of coaching. The six months and countless conversations proved invaluable and helped me understand my strengths better. It also made me aware of the gaps, and then used strategies to plug them.

In a coaching relationship, the coach is never a subject matter expert but a person who holds you accountable for the journey that you want to go on.
