Coaching is not just a process!!

Coaching encompasses various aspects and approaches. Throughout my life, I have encountered different types of coaching, and in the following paragraphs, I will describe my experiences and their impact on me.

In 1998, I had my first coaching experience in Mexico, where I coached an American Football Team consisting of kids around the age of 15. At that time, coaching seemed like a straightforward task, involving the sharing of my knowledge of American football. Specifically, my aim was to convey a message I had received from a coach during my third year in high school—a message that had a profound impact on me.

It was the day after a challenging training session. At the end of the session, we gathered around the coach, kneeling and listening to his feedback on the day's training. However, he concluded with a statement: "You need to strive to be the best, no matter where you are or what you're doing. Aim to be number one, whether it's in school, at work, or even in relationships. Always strive to be the best and position yourself as the top among those around you."

This perspective shifted when I started practicing Aikido. In Aikido, students are not just students; they are my collaborators in the learning process of this art. If you practice intensely with someone helping you, they, in turn, make you feel the same or even more intensely during their turn. Therefore, coaching involves guiding them to be their best while also instructing them on how to care for their opponent, not merely reacting, to create harmony between the attacker and oneself.

Now, as I focus on maintaining my physical health, I have taken up CrossFit. The most valuable aspect of this is not just the workout but also the lessons it imparts on controlling one's ego. How does one coach someone on controlling their ego?

Having experienced coaching in various forms, I recognize it as a process where one can lead, guide, support, and develop an individual through different conditions and situations to enhance their performance, skills, and overall effectiveness in life, the environment, workplace, etc. This involves providing feedback, setting goals, offering guidance, and facilitating learning opportunities to help individuals reach their full potential.
