COACHING AND CONNECTION

Welcome to the latest edition of the Association for Coaching’s (AC) Newsletter. This week:

  • Listen to our new, inspiring podcast series – Coaching Our Future Generation
  • Read about Ubuntu-Inspired Leadership
  • Join our next Digital Learning webinar

“This new series dives deep, gets very real, challenging perspectives but offers great hope for coaches who want to create long-term change and opportunity for our future generations.”

As the podcast manager and author of this newsletter, it may be wrong for me to quote myself but both Rob Lawrence our audio producer, and I, have been hugely impacted by our new and current podcast series: Coaching Our Future Generations. The conversations were so rich, so valuable and real that they could not be contained in our normal 45-60 minute format. Our wonderful host, Maisie Barlow, spoke to her guests with such sensitivity and curiosity, creating a space for them to talk about their passion for coaching young people that is truly inspiring and inviting.

The series started on March 4 and if you’d like to listen to my LinkedIn Live interview with Maisie to find out more about the series, you can listen here.

On Monday we release our most in-depth episode ever with Steven Russell, founder of Elements SEMH Support CIC. With candour and authenticity, Steven shares both his personal and professional encounters with the care system and education. He offers a message of hope to those within the care system, and invaluable advice for professionals, including coaches, on how to work with young people.

You will learn:

  • The power of just one person in a child's life
  • The importance of connection before correction
  • The five elements of connection and how to apply them in your professional practice (or personal life!)

Ubuntu is often explained through an aphorism, “I am because we are,” which means a person is a person through other persons.”

?Dr Siphokazi Joy Ntetha

In an earlier edition of our Coaching Perspectives magazine, Dr Siphokazi Joy Ntetha shares her rich experience of ubuntu-inspired leadership and invites us to consider how coaches can encourage leaders to consider a frame for shared-heroism – for the benefit of society and the planet at large, recognizing our interconnectedness and a more humane way of leading.

?Dr Ntetha writes about the three fundamentals of how ubuntu can strengthen the coaching discourse to support business leaders. A thought-provoking and interesting article.
