Coaches Wanted to Serve the World

Coaches Wanted to Serve the World

It seems that every few days I get lost in the flow of my work and I forget that the holidays are upon us! However, I was snapped back into reality this week when my local grocery store had a “Help Wanted for the Holidays” sign in the window.

“What? Holidays now?”

Stores are preparing for the unavoidable rush of customers looking for all the things they need to have a joyful and harmonious holiday celebration.

When seasons change the needs of our society changes. Those who are prepared to handle those changes will do much better than the rest.

We’ve experienced a big shift in our world and people will need to have better tools to get through this season in a harmonious manner.

I couldn’t help but feel a sadness this week when at least three people told me their family has been split in half by disagreement and the lack of the ability to understand each other. Seasons have changed. Families, friends and co-workers are trying to navigate through hurt feelings and words spoken in the heat of the moment. They lack clarity on how to go forward and it feels bad.

I found myself asking the question “what do we do now?”.

That question was followed by the next:

“Might our society benefit by having better tools such as the ones we use in coaching to help them have a harmonious holiday season?”

This continued until the questions caused me to drill down and come up with a plan to make a difference in the world.

The first part of my plan is to encourage as many coaches as I can to reach out and help those around them.

The second part is to help coaches come up with ideas on how to reach out to those around them.

Here’s my list for coaches and other leaders. It’s not exhaustive and it is certainly not tailored made for each person. With that in mind, after you read this list I invite you to help others by adding your voice to the conversation.

COACHES WANTED

  • Believe that you matter and can make a difference. Belief energizes action.
  • Be non-judgmental. Keep yourself focused on the other person.
  • Use social media. Post uplifting and hopeful stories, art, music and quotes. Become the positive vibe that you want to see in the world.
  • Send a coaching invitation. People may not understand what you do and how you can support them. Perhaps you can send out holiday coupons that can be used anytime within the next six weeks (they can also pass the coupon along to someone else).
  • Create a holiday coaching package by offering a six-week group or individual program with the goal of providing support to help people communicate better.
  • Reach out to your community. Contact organizations and businesses and offer to help them support their members and employees during the holidays.
  • If you are a leader but don’t have coaching skills, reach out to an experienced coach and work in partnership with them to help your team or your organization.

Coaches, you are more powerful and the skills you have are extremely valuable and important. Don’t underestimate the impact you can have on the world now and in the new year. There’s a time to study and prepare and there is a time to launch out, make a difference and coach!  Coaches Wanted for the Holidays and Beyond.
