The Coaches Ally
The Coaches Ally exists to help coaches better connect with those they come in contact with on a daily basis. To understand their personal brand. Helping coaches get fulfillment for their coaching position and to enhance truly their coaching experience.
Coaches have many demands on their time and attention. After spending 27 years in the profession, I have seen many effective coaches in dealing with the demands and some who did not deal so well.
My last three years as the Director of Operations at LSU I had a front row seat to some of the best coaches in the country (Larry Brown, Billy Donovan, John Calipari).
As well as learning from the inside of our athletic department. Not only is our administration one of the best, but our coaches in all sports are second to none. It was like a Master's degree in coaching getting to watch and learn.
I learned how athletes react and how coaches instruct. I made sure early to watch how student-athletes responded to coaches and coaching. Also, how coaches gave out instructions.
I took ferocious notes (something I learned from my college coach, Don Meyer). I was amazed at how we think we are communicating, getting a point across and it is not reaching the intended target (the athlete).
The facilities we had at LSU were as good as anywhere in the country. Our students-athletes had access to the best tutors, strength coaches, trainers, doctors, psychologists, and coaches. Still for some there was not a connection? Why?
Was it because of what we call the "modern day athlete"? Was it because of the demands we put on our student-athletes? Were our expectations too high?
All of these issues are what we aim to help coaches understand with The Coaches Ally. Our part is to help educate and assist coaches with better communicate skills and to give them an Ally in the pressures of their job.
We will help coaches understand the personal brand message they have and how it comes into play every day. With experts input in podcasts, newsletters, webinars coaches are exposed to information that will enhance their careers.
