No one is talking about this or actively addressing this and I feel it's my duty to do exactly that.
So...
Since I've decided to help coaches & consultants full-time, I've spoken to a handful by now and I'm noticing a trend of false beliefs & advice that people give to coaches/consultants between £0-£30k /month
False beliefs such as:
You need to create an online course. No you don’t.?
??You NEED a FRAMEWORK of how you can shift your ideal client to the outcome they want.
You need a Facebook Group... not necessarily
??You need a CENTRAL COMMUNITY of;
1. Mentors you can learn from
2. Coaches that hold your hand to learn a new skill or tool
3. Other coaches that you can meet at live events, virtual events & online...
4. When you get MORE than 4 clients, you need to pre-record your framework content, and offer a group live session regularly, ONCE weekly, BUT before that just do one to one, in fact people do one to one even up to 10 clients, but I wouldn't do one to ones to that many after that number.
You need a website. Absolutely not.?
?You need to start conversations ORGANICALLY through messaging and showing your expertise in comments to reply to questions in groups, posts that show you are an expert, these START conversations, conversations lead to 5 minute phone calls, 5 minute phone calls lead to value consulting calls which lead to PAID CLIENTS!
You need a case study funnel with a Video Sales Letter.
??You need to get small wins for your first clients, and get written testimonials, even screenshot a sort positive comment on one of your posts
You need to do paid ads with webinars to scale up ( biggest lie when you're between £0-£10k /month )
?NO! NEVER! You need to get to £30,000 a month consistently for 6 months before you touch ads, master your messaging first, get some money in the bank, then you have the RIGHT copy (you have experimented with for months and got right in your conversations) and the investment to start ads.
Well...
Here's what is TRUE:
Our 7 figure company operates with a 90% profit margin.
The majority of our clients come through our personal profiles and world of mouth.
We don't have a case study funnel (we have tried it multiple times + with paid ads)
We have a Facebook Group which is small-sized (not responsible for our majority of new clients, based on data)
We have a website that we don’t really use, what we use the most it a calendly link. MEANING the most important and cheapest software you will need is a scheduling software, this is all I HAD FOR 12 MONTHS!?
I used to do mainly 1-on-1 coaching calls which gave more value and customisation than an online course, now I do group AND one to one, with a bigger team, and I work less! (although we do also provide step by step video training).?
Look, this doesn't mean we will never move into any of the above.
But what it means is, focus on what really can help people.

The delivery process is just a process, what really matters is the OUTCOME. Even if your delivery is ''unprofessional'' to a standard, if it drives the outcome for your clients then nothing else matters. Remember get your client a TANGIBLE OUTCOME!
Results over anything. Stop making things complex.
Entrepreneurship is a very practical and experiential journey
A big part of the market has made it complex & theoretical which leads to intense burnout, overwhelming emotions and a business in chaos.
When you add a Facebook Group, you diversify traffic while organic already has a decreased reach. This leads to massive opportunity cost.
When you build an online course at the beginning, you add a lot of complex variables that you then now always have to manage & update.
When you build a case study funnel, you now have multiple streams of links you can send out which again makes everything more complex.?
You need a website, why??
I could go on and on.
I'm here to tell you, it doesn't have to be that way.
I spend 4 hours a day on my business on average and we're doing practically 7-figures a year while I can travel and organise unforgettable experiences, like going scuba diving on a crystal boat!
Doesn't mean that I sometimes don't have to sit 8 hours a day to grow it, cause those moments will arise.
Instead of hustling and working hard, zoom out and think how you can work more smart, efficient and what drives the results for you and your own clients.
Nothing else matters.
We only focus on:
- Content
- Messenger Inbound & Outbound
- Sales Process
- Following-Up
- Automation & Delegation
- Client Delivery ( filling the void from Point A to Point B with coaching, resources etc. )
In future posts, I'll dive more deeply into what we do instead to get our clients incredible results..
But also to simply press the buttons that have to be pressed, to move the needle in your coaching/consulting business.

2 年Very well written. I know so many coaches and consultants who spent a ton on a website but it's just an over glorified business card and only works if people are looking at it. I think Social Media has replaced the website.

2 年Excellent points Sir Marco Robinson Do only that which matters. So many people getting into starting a business struggle with the getting clients part. They hide behind building products, tools, websites, whatever else that keeps them busy, but in the end doesn't create clients. That's a model left over from the industrial age of "show up at a job and look busy". That might work in a large corporation, but small businesses need to leverage time and money much better. That is by focusing only on building a customer base. Talking to the right people, creating massive value, and letting those raving fans bring you more. Although I've done all the things that you suggest are not needed, only the part that had to do with client interaction created money, and the only lead gen that works consistently is word of mouth.
