Coach Thought of the Week: Hustling
Emy Fernandez
With 35+ years in the legal industry, I help ambitious attorneys achieve their business and career goals in a competitive market while ensuring it aligns with their lifestyle goals.
The Hustle Culture is about being aggressive, being forceful, being a slayer, pushing forward, working long hours; and putting ourselves last.
Hustling without rest and self-care puts our bodies in a constant state of fight affecting, our health. You may get an immediate return but keeping the body in hustle mode is not sustainable in the long term. The high salaries, bonuses, promotions, and incentives work. But ultimately, our bodies give out either mentally, physically, or both.
Yet, we describe ourselves as “hustlers” and carry it as a badge of honor, especially women. We believe to be successful, we have to give up time with family, time with friends, and time for us.
All or nothing.
If believing “hustling” moves you forward; If believing “hustling” gives you the incentive to be productive; If believing “hustling” is the wind in your sail, then do you.
But incorporate in the hustle, some TLC. This is what will fuel you for the long haul.
