There was once an era where the thinkers and theorists were those- who looked for Why and What. All the science is about Why- which goes into the diagnostic mode; helping people to dissect the matter and understand it’s know hows. Talk about single cell amoeba to constellations; theories delve deep about what has brought them here. We have set a mark in combating several challenges where technology played a key role. And through technology we could thoroughly understand the functions/mechanisms of Human Body. This has paved way to fight through disease and gain healthy body.
Then comes the mind- then comes the feel- then comes the spirit; and then comes the connect. These are buzz words of today’s cohort. While we are occupied with technological interface all around- trying to connect and bridging the gap among each other- it somehow always draws to a thought that we are spreading apart; as unable to make direct interactions. Relationship building is more through technological platform- to exchange words and explain situations. We are all continuously trying to practice the Mind Body connect- follow several techniques to stay connected with ourselves; yet unable to realise the immense potential one has with-in oneself. The range of emotional bandwagon one has to go through during situations; not knowing that solution is with in one’s own self. The body as a system of energy works at its best when the connect among the mind-feel and spirit is established. Most of us think that it is much higher state of living in-order to establish that connect. To me, I say- that’s not a level to judge- rather that’s the state of awareness where one has ‘TO BE’. It is the energy that allows us to be in this state; energy that is in an incessant flow; circulating to maintain the connect intact. As we consciously observe our connect; we tend to harmonise our state of being; so we are fully aware of what we are doing. We constantly need to choose to be conscious about ourself; and trust our potential- which will inturn enable us to attain whatever we aim for. Rather- it is through this state of being- we being to aim and we begin to achieve. All other so called goals or dreams are just meaningful words which one lists to build a self-vocabulary. One is thoroughly aware of one’s competence when in state of being- and makes a sincere effort to reach out to set goals. The learning model- 4 States of Competence best explains the transformational journey one goes through all in the state of being.

The 4 States of Competence is a model that describes the processes one as he learns a new skill. It shows that humans are originally oblivious of their incompetence. Once they are aware of their ineptitude, they try to develop a skill that they can utilize along the way. As time progresses, this acquired skill is effectively used without conscious contemplation. It is in this stage when a human develops mastery – also known as unconscious incompetence.
The model sounds self-explanatory- and looks simple on the contour; however there has always been complexity in its application; at times even ignored. Most of the time; it can be mastery of a skill to perform a particular task or managing human behaviour; we have faced challenges in estimating our potential to meet the ends. Or is it that- we have not made an attempt to look into ourselves for all possible solutions that we have with-in oneself. Did we get a chance to retrospect and analyse what is our potential-what is our competence level- all this in a State of Being.
Many a times, we are busy with tasks overloaded which keep us busy; yet we deviate from the track of performing at our fullest potential. As a social being; we have people around us- again it is connect that needs to be made, so; the communication reaches to the State of Being of the other person. It is uncertain if those around us are practicing to be in the current state of being-so, we can start talking.
Coaching Practice has been emerged from knowing that one has to be in the State of Being and this way- a Coach would not only help oneself but also establish a connect with any other person who approaches him/her. As the connect is established; Coach engages in conversations where the Coachee is set trough a transformational journey to reach a desired state of accomplishment. Over this journey- The Coach engages with the Coachee in meaningful discussions which will empower the Coachee and enable him/her to find all possible solutions to overcome their current situation. Coach in a way plays the role of a ‘Change Agent’; so, Coachee is made to answer certain powerful questions- which in a way rearrange the Coachee’s thought process.
Coaching practice is picking up speed in the current scenario and there is a rising demand for certified Coaches in days to come. Human Capital investment comes with surmountable potential where business is directly dependant on Individual or team’s performance to meet Organisational objectives. Before even an individual or a group is set for a training program- they need to align themselves with individual or Organisational Goals. Coaches are engaged to let the individual know of their present state of being and envision them to align with their goals. Various tools and methodologies are being used- again as the Coaching journey is set; the Coachee entrusts the Coach and sets foot forward without any apprehensions. Coach is there throughout the journey- surprisingly – not travelling along- ‘It is Coachee who wants to reach the destination’, yet Coach is there to listen, support, guide and enable the Coachee- reach to the set destination. Coachee entrusts in his/her Coach to express the situational imbalance and challenges.
Coach- needless to be an expert in the Coachee’s domain; is one who is thoroughly aware and continuously practicing to be in the ‘State of Being’, builds connect with the Coachee to enable him/her to tap innumerable options that can be availed through one’s own self. Certified Coach is a Coach who is not made by gaining Certification- rather by being in the mind-set and building a connect with people. It is a wonderful world for a Coach who is exploring untapped human potential- and empowering them from time to time to be self-resilient with ease and grace.
