Co-Working Spaces and the Four-Day Week

I have noticed an exciting and somewhat alarming development lately. In the last few weeks I have come across at least four new co-working spaces I have not heard of before and had the privilege of checking out two close to where I currently reside. I say exciting because it means there is even more help available for entrepreneurs. Alarming, because I am not aware of the intent behind all of these spaces popping up and their potential impact on a four-day week.
A co-working space allows for one to hire a desk or a spot to work from. In addition, you have access to all the amenities one would come to expect in an office environment. For example, wifi access, boardroom facilities, a kitchen, dedicated offices and so much more at a fixed rate.
Not only do you pay a fraction of the cost of hiring an entire office, but you are also surrounded by likeminded individuals and business owners.
While this sounds great, there are the pricing options to consider. Too low and people may not value the place as much, too high and you exclude valuable resources. There is also the concern that wealthy owners simply see it as a way of generating a profit and failing that, the place just shuts down leaving everyone stranded. Co-working spaces are absolutely essential to the reduced workweek revolution and I welcome even more to secure a sustainable future for South African startups.
Co-working spaces make the four-day week more attractive as it opens up options for bosses to follow through on. The flexibility granted allows for collaboration and innovation to happen at a faster pace. Hopefully the pricing models will be well thought out to engage businesses at varying stages of growth. What are your thoughts on co-working spaces?
