What if every enterprise software comes with a Smart Interactive Co-Pilot (a digital assistant) that truly engages users?
What if this portable, active brain Co-Pilot can have intelligent, contextual conversations with you, and learns your preferences and usage patterns—and over time become increasingly personalized, powerful and natural?
So, you don’t ever have to remember the menus, the transaction codes or search or learn the complexities enterprise software other than getting the job done. You just talk or text what you want to do and the Co-Pilot will get it done. That’s a win-win for both sides as it addresses two severe problems faced by the software vendors and the application users.
One of the biggest issue faced by enterprise software vendors is user adoption i.e., effective use of their software by the users and not reaching enough users. On the other hand, the biggest complaint by the users is that the software is complex to use, and it changes frequently. Both these issues can be put to rest by a smart Co-Pilot that can exponentially expedite user adoption and significantly increase user stickiness with a reliable Co-Pilot that is ready to help anywhere, any device, anytime of the day.
This applies equally to all enterprise software such as ERP, CRM, Business Intelligence, Education, Financial, HR, Security, Law, Marketing, Sales, Service, Manufacturing, and Healthcare.
Conversational & Backend AI is critical key for the growth of enterprise software. Salesforce revenue goals are $40 Billion by 2028 and $60 Billion by 2034. ( Salesforce to be $60 Billion company by 2034.) It was clear from the takeaways from earnings call of SalesForce (4 Takeaways From SalesForce Earnings Call ). One of the top takeaway is that AI remains key for SalesForce growth story, I believe this is true for the entire enterprise software except Salesforce realized it and acted on it long before other software vendors.
This Smart Interactive Co-Pilot approach is the key to develop personalized experiences for users ranging from using the software to personalized education to personalized medicine to personalized shopping and beyond. Current generic one-size fits all chatbots work more like an FAQ bot than a personalized Co-Pilot for the user.
As an example, let’s say you are using CRM and you want to enter an opportunity for a customer B, you can just say or type “enter an opportunity for customer B” and your Co-Pilot takes you to the opportunity screen for customer B. Once there, you can talk or text or type the opportunity. This is just the beginning in terms of the 'Art of the Possible' with a smart, portable, active brain Co-Pilot that creates engaging experiences for the user.
Here are the two predictions by Gartner in June 2017:
1. In less than five years, over 50% of customers will select your offering based on your AI (Co-Pilot) instead of traditional brand.
2. AI (Co-Pilot) defines Future Customer Experience - simply talk to or text or gesture or touch enabled.
Providing an Ongoing Meaningful Conversation with a user is, in itself a miracle waiting to happen and applying that for enterprise software to create engaging user experience in order to expedite user adoption to achieve business outcomes is a massive transformation that redefines the user interface. This is the genesis for ‘Conversational AI (Co-Pilot) is the new UI’.
As Amazon Alexa, Google Home Fall Short of Real Conversation the need for a Co-Pilot that can engage users with Ongoing Meaningful Conversations has never been greater. As Co-Pilot's usage increases, it learns and can take on multiple roles from being a Navigator to the Recommender to the Advisor to help users become exponentially effective in their roles.
Introducing Aigo (say I-go)
If AI is the new electricity, then Aigo is the new electric switch that would take the AI to the masses, the same way electric switch took electricity to the masses.

With a Smart Interactive Co-Pilot Aigo, there's NO MORE ONE SIZE FITS ALL when it comes to fields such as software, education, medicine, machines, shopping, entertainment, and more than anything else what matters the most in the digital world is 'Personalized User Experience', since Aigo contextually interacts, understands, learns and evolves with the usage patterns of the user, Aigo is best suited for the job.
Aigo is a catalyst and an enabler of game changing Personalized User Experiences that is required in multiple fields that are currently offering ineffective generic solutions.
We believe our future is going to very 'Personalized'. Aigo is a catalyst and an enabler of creating ‘Personalized User Experiences’, some selective commercial applications include:
1) As a user of Ent. Software, you can have a dedicated – Ent. Software Assistant
2) As an employee, you can have a dedicated – Enterprise HR Assistant
3) As a Sales Executive, you can have a dedicated – Enterprise Sales Assistant
4) As a IT User, you can have a dedicated – Enterprise Help desk Assistant
5) As a Customer, you can have a dedicated – Enterprise Cust. Srvc. Assistant
6) As a Shopper, you can have a dedicated – Personal Shopping Assistant
7) As an individual, you can have a dedicated – Personal Virtual Assistant
8) As a Medical professional, you can have a dedicated – Ent. Medical Assistant
and more
As an example, if you are a Business Intelligence software vendor for the enterprise, think about offering users a truly 'Personalized Data/Analytics Assistant' (PDA) that is portable, smart with active brain, that remembers what you asked for, how you use it, ready to engage, answer & address any business intelligence related question anytime. No need to remember any keywords or learn SQL or log on to portal or search for your reports/ dashboards/ screens, just ask your PDA in your Natural Language.
Here is a sample conversation a Business Intelligence user can have with Aigo - the enterprise Co-Pilot (questions/ commands by user are in bold):
> What are today’s Business Exceptions? Presents the screen that shows alerts that need immediate attention
> Show me our cash position in the UK Presents the screen that shows 'Cash Position' filtered by Region UK
> Can you re-run the 'RECON' report you had executed yesterday? “The one for USA or Germany?” > Presents the outputs of the Bank Reconciliation summary for USA
> Details, please Presents details of the Bank Reconciliation
> Give me all transactions with reference X040AC for this week Filters report
> Now show me all the capital investments requested for the next 90 days Presents the screen that shows 'Cash Flow Forecasting' filtered by Capital Investments
> Just those over five million dollars Filters report
> Give me this report on the second Wednesday of every month “Ok, I will send you the 'Cash Flow Forecasting' report showing Capital Investments over $5,000,000 on the second Wednesday of every month”
> Send me alerts only between 8 AM and 6 PM on weekdays only. "OK, I will send you the alerts from Monday thru Friday between 8 AM and 6 PM."
This is just a tiny sampling of what Aigo could do for a Business Intelligence user in the beginning, imagine what it could do as it learns and evolves with the usage.
Can you think of an enterprise software or a solution that needs or could use a Smart Interactive Co-Pilot with active brain to create personalized engaging user experiences?
Are you an enterprise software vendor looking to increase user-adoption and user-effectiveness in using your software to help your customers achieve their business outcomes?
Would love to hear from you. Be sure to let me know what benefits would you see or like to see with a Smart Interactive Co-Pilot Aigo. Thank you for reading the article.

6 年Very interesting article Srini Pagidyala. I can immediately think of a number of use cases where such intelligence could be applied and add immense value realizing personalized experiences. Hell, I'd be already happy if my car finally recognized my words without me having to study the manual of available commands first (my German accent is not helping either). I like the notion of shifting the focus truly on the user rather than making us constantly learn different languages and expressions to interact with new systems, applications, and interfaces. I can even imagine a world where such a virtual personal assistant is with me for my entire life as my personal interface instead of keyboards, key pads, any user interface really. My communication digital twin. Identity theft becomes a hole new dimension as a result. But, I am getting ahead of myself. ;-)

6 年Very good point Michael Novak, while 2018 is the beginning of this Co-Pilot, it has a long way to go from transitioning from Navigator to Recommender to Advisor for business users. But we have to start somewhere and 2018 is exactly that. I also agree with the fact that there could be multiple agents working behind the scenes such as Einstein in SalesForce that delivers predictions and recommendations to the users. Even Einstein needs a conversational interface, in other words the Smart Interactive Co-Pilot Aigo can act as a conversational interface not just for core ERP, CRM software but also for other ML (Machine Learning) based AI agents working on the backend. That's the power of this intelligent Co-Pilot.

6 年Well written and timely. I like the idea of a co-pilot to tutor users on a new software application. Or perhaps embedded in the packaging so that it could run offline. The 2018 market is still in the early stage, where vendors are jockeying for customer ears and sweet spots (consumer v business needs). But at some point the underlying assistant will be irrelevant. I will need to accomplish a task by voice or tactile input (or both), and not know - or care - how many assistants are involved under the covers.

6 年An excellent concept and tooling (Aigo) to develop a fully connected virtual assistant tool supporting user in interacting with products and platforms (I can't think of a reason why anyone building them wouldn't include it!). This can practically be applied to anything we see and interact with in our daily lives to expedite learning on both sides ( consumers and tool). The possibilities are truly endless! Thanks Srini Pagidyala & Peter Voss for sharing and contributing to our learning!
