?? The Co-Housing Dream Continues: Own a Slice of Paradise Together in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico! ??
It's still summer here in Victoria, BC but I'm sure seeing plenty of passion for Puerto Vallarta! Are we already dreaming of winter escapes? Is it the shitty housing prospects in Canada that have us thinking it's time to get the hell out of here? I'm not sure if it's the air (or lack of it if you're in one of the many fires raging around here) the looming recession or 'kill me now' interest rate hikes. Maybe it's the Barbie phenomenon; we can all live together in our dream houses and play at the beach all day! Whatever it is, I'm getting daily messages, photos and listings from friends, family and the universe screaming at me that we all want to be in MEXICO!!! So seriously...it's time to put this idea out once again and maybe by the new year...we'll make it happen.
Now that I've got your attention here are some reasons to actually give it more than just a passing thought:)
First, let's talk about the transformative power of co-owning property with other incredible people. As we navigate different phases of life, community becomes more essential than ever, particularly as we age. It isn't easy but once you've jumped through the hurdles it can be amazing! Here's why this trend is gaining traction and why you should consider it:
?? Financial Freedom:
Co-owning property reduces individual financial burdens, offering a gateway to real estate investing with shared mortgage and maintenance responsibilities. It’s smart, strategic, and empowering. It takes legal agreements, partnership strategies and an exit plan (or a divorce handled amicably) but it is doable.
?? A Vital Community:
Did you know that the average age of a widow in Canada is 56? Women are living longer, staying single, and choosing to have full and fun retirements! At this stage, a vibrant, supportive community is paramount. Co-housing considerations are on trend especially for women! The community fosters meaningful, enduring relationships that nourish our souls, combat loneliness, provide safety and security and enhance our sense of belonging.
?? Mental and Emotional Wellness:
Living in community correlates with lower stress, healthier lifestyle habits, and a greater sense of purpose and joy. Shared living encourages conversations, emotional support, and a deep sense of companionship that is vital for mental health. It's the way we used to live, for millennia actually...remember the village! It wasn't until after two world wars, the automobile, the highway, the suburbs and a need to get people back to work to stoke the economic engine that we moved from the village to the silo.
?? Sustainable Living:

Co-housing naturally leads to shared resources, less waste, split utility bills, communal gardening, and embodying a greener, more sustainable lifestyle. Toss in happier happy hours, games nights, perogy making and chartering the occasional yacht and WHEW, I'm green (with envy) just thinking about it!
?? Remote Work Lifestyle:
Picture this: Puerto Vallarta’s beaches, restaurants and vistas as the backdrop of your Zoom calls. A sublime blend of productivity and paradise! Cheaper living for digital nomads, location independence and avocado every day! YES PLEASE!
?? ?? Redefining Retirement:
Co-owning is not just about sharing costs; it’s about actively crafting a vibrant, community-focused future. Imagine retiring in style, surrounded by friends in a place you adore, instead of a detached retirement home setting. It's on your terms, with your tribe, with the pool boy that you hired to also be your salsa dancing instructor, personal chef and RMT:)
?? Travel with Peace of Mind:
With trusted co-owners, you can explore the world, knowing your property is in good hands. Which is also code for, let's do this again in Portugal!
As women, we have always thrived in community. It's in our nature, our history, and our strength. Co-owning property in a haven like Puerto Vallarta is more than a savvy financial move; it's a proactive step towards a fulfilling, secure, and community-rich chapter of life. And why are we fixed on PV? For many of us, it is one direct flight away and we already have 100 expat friends waiting for us!!! In reality, it could be anywhere. Have internet, phone, software...will travel!
If you're ready to embrace a new way of living and investing while building lifelong bonds and securing a radiant future, let’s connect and make the co-housing dream in Puerto Vallarta a reality for 2024! I'll be taking names and hosting an info session once the rains start again...let's say end of September!
