??? COP29 came to a close with a number of key outcomes, notably approval for an Article 6.4 centralized UN mechanism for trading of carbon credits, currently called the Paris Agreement Crediting Mechanism (PACM). The first issuances under this mechanism are expected next year and we will be monitoring these credits closely. We are gratified to see the community of nations continue to endorse carbon markets as a critical mechanism to achieve global climate goals.

?? MSCI CEO states that carbon credit markets are “becoming far more effective than once thought”, unlocking climate finance and investment for developing countries, delivering economic and social benefits beyond emissions reductions, and providing more climate integrity and clarity through improved data and technologies.

?? Nature Climate Change published a “Protect, manage and then restore lands for climate mitigation” report on the need for natural climate solutions to avoid the worst effects of climate change, with a ‘hierarchy’ or protection, management, and restoration of natural ecosystems.
