CN, CPKC, and Teamsters Canada Labour Negotiation Update

We here at Canaan Group want to keep you informed about the upcoming strike vote by the union representing Canadian National (CN) and Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) engineers and conductors in Canada. The Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC) has scheduled the strike vote from April 8th to May 1st. If approved, the earliest potential date for a walkout or lockout on CN and CPKC in Canada is May 22nd, 2024.

The union’s key demands include transitioning from mileage-based pay to hourly wages and establishing predictable work schedules that align with Transport Canada Duty and Rest Period Rules. Negotiations between labour and management have been ongoing since March 1st, with federal conciliators involved.
