While the government has stated its commitment to safeguarding nursing home residents from the ongoing threat of COVID-19, they have also heavily penalized Long-term Care facilities for violations to guidance recently issued.
How does issuing a fine of over $20,000 “help” or “support” a facility?
Actionable, real-time support needs to come from experts that are plugged into the needs and challenges that long-term care facilities are facing. Let’s dispatch some “boots on the ground” teams who can take real tangible action in supporting out facilities!

4 年The States continue to issue citations for Life Safety items which are waived under the 1135 from CMS. I have a message directly from CMS that reads "The facility should not receive citations".

4 年This puts me in mind of a interview that I had for the infection control director position for a group of nursing homes in my home state. Clearly they had a very haphazard understanding of nosocomial and Secondary/opportunistic infection. I was informed that they had hired a CNA who had a, "interest in epidemiology." Of course they've had endless issues but the administration doesn't seem to care so...
