Is CMA Live the right fit for me?

Is CMA Live the right fit for me?

When you’re choosing to buy a ticket for a business and marketing conference in the UK, there are lots of things to take into consideration.

Just like you, I’ve been to conferences and live events all over the world, and we can’t get to them all. We have to choose which events will be the right fit for us.

Perhaps your comparing all the different events you want to go to and weighing up the pros and cons.

If so, I’d like to help you get through all the questions you’re asking yourself as quickly as possible.

10 reasons why you might not buy a ticket for CMA Live

1. I don’t know if I’m suitable

  1. Are you a business owner?
  2. Do you have customers?
  3. Do you believe that marketing is the single most important aspect of your business?
  4. Do you want to be the best at what you do?
  5. Do you want to be a great marketer and communicator?

If you said yes to all these questions then CMA Live is 100% for you.

2. I’m not sure if I’m unsuitable

At CMA Live you will find and meet the following kinds of people:

  • Business owners
  • Entrepreneurs
  • In-house marketers and teams
  • In-house sales people and teams
  • Entrepreneur marketers (freelance marketers)

CMA Live is a business growth conference, therefore typically the people that attend CMA Live either own the business, or work very closely with the owners and leaders to assist in growing the business.

3. It’s too early for me in my marketing career/journey

Is there a better time to learn about marketing? In my opinion, it’s never too late and it’s never too early.

At CMA Live 16 we had quite a few people that hadn’t event started their business yet. They were there sponging up all the information they could to give them the best possible start.

Thinking back to 2011, 2 years before I started my business, I attended several marketing conferences throughout the UK to get as much knowledge as possible to set me up for success going forward. I spent a lot of money and time gathering the skills I felt I needed.

The earlier you learn about marketing the better – you’ll realise just how important it is from the very start of your entrepreneurial career.

CMA will save you a lot of time and effort by fast tracking you to the best people and the most up to date content.

Your success is dictated by the speed in which you learn.

4. It’s too far to travel

CMA Live is taking place in Edinburgh, the beautiful Capital city of Scotland.

Now, I know that people will not even travel from Glasgow to Edinburgh, and vice versa, to attend events. In fact, if it rains outside some people won’t leave the house even if they have paid for a ticket for an event!

We live in a very strange world.

However, CMA Live is a little different than other events.

CMA Live is truly an international conference. We’ve had guests from North America, South Africa, Spain, Italy and Ireland. 30% of our guests were from England, and the remainder from Scotland. Throughout the UK we had people from Aberdeen to Penzance and everywhere in between.

People are willing to travel far and wide to be at CMA Live.

There’s a very good chance that the best people and the best marketing conferences are not going to take place in your town or city, and you will have to travel to get the exposure you need to grow yourself and your business.

It’s only too far if you’re lazy and you don’t think there’s any value in you being there.

Nothing will stop you if you know you need to be there.

Shout out to a few people who travelled afar for CMA Live 16:

  • Dani Bergman: travelled from South Africa for CMA Live 16
  • Andrew & Pete: Travelled from Newcastle for CMA Live 16
  • Yva Yorston: Travelled from Aberdeen for CMA Live 16
  • Pete Matthew: Travelled from Penzance for CMA Live 16

Regardless of distance travelled, thanks to everyone for making a huge effort to be at CMA Live 16!

5. It’s too short notice

This is a common and valid reason. You may already have plans in place, especially if the conference is only a few weeks away.

Other things that might get in the way are:

  • Staff holidays
  • Staff illness
  • Client deadlines
  • Family holidays
  • Time off
  • Work load, and
  • …generally not enough time to plan for it.

I get it.

The earlier you can get your place booked the better.

CMA Live takes place in June, so depending on when you’re reading this, you might be able to take advantage of time and book well in advance and plan accordingly so you don’t miss out.

You can also get a great deal on tickets, take advantage of our payment plan and save money on travel and accommodation by booking early.

If you are reading this and CMA is far into the future, do yourself a favour and get booked in. Spread the payments, and lock the dates in your schedule.

Shout out to Stefan Thomas and Julia Bramble for puling out the stops at the last minute to be at CMA Live 16!

5. It’s my first time and I’m not really sure how good it will be

You’ve probably seen a lot of the ‘hype’ around CMA Live, and perhaps you are a little skeptical of it all. It just seems a little ’too good to be true’. (PS I HATE HYPE!)

I know exactly how you feel. After CMA Live 16 people said crazy things like:

Emotional, invigorated, head is buzzing with ideas. Excited about the future. Possibilities could be endless.
I was seriously blown away by CMA Live 16. All the speakers at the event were incredible.
I DON’T KNOW WHERE TO BEGIN! I am absolutely fired up and motivated beyond belief. I feel like I am part of something incredibly special and life-changing. I loved every minute of the event but the best thing about it is that it continues on past the two days through the online community and meet-ups.
Determined, inspired, motivated, positive, self-belief, excited
Awesome! So pleased I attended CMA Live 16, I feel like my business path is much clearer than it was before I went, I feel like I know exactly which direction I am taking to get us to where we need to be.
We now think it is the best conference in the UK we have been to.
Mind blown
I have been through a thoughtful, emotional, educational car wash and have come out the other side ready to start afresh and rebuild with new inspiration and better ideas.
Blown away and supercharged.
Expectations blown out of the water. Everything soooo much better than I’d hoped!
It’s like Christmas
Overwhelmed, but in a good way. It was even better than I had hoped it would be.

You’re probably thinking “how good can it really be?” Well…I can only give you so much information to help you with this.

The comments above are only a snippet of the feedback we have received. It’s up to you whether you want to believe it or not.

It all speaks for itself, and if that’s not enough for you then I’m seriously going to struggle to help you further.

A point comes where you have to make the decision for yourself.

You know about the horse and the water…

Are you in, or out?

7. I’m paying for this in advance & taking all the risk!

That is true – you pay for a ticket and you have no idea if it’s actually going to become a reality. I get it. You are fully trusting us here at CMA to follow through and do what we say we’re going to do.

CMA Live 18 is our fifth year in a row. We’re committed to the venue, the speakers…and most of all to you.

We’re all in on this. It’s happening. You can trust us, just like 100s of other people just like you that have over the years.

8. I can’t afford it/It seems expensive

Two days or more out of your business, travel expenses, accommodation and your ticket.

It’s not cheap.

In fact, it’s expensive when you add it all up.

What I do know is this – you probably go to a lot of free/low cost events in and around your area. You waste a lot of time at these events. But because it’s free, it seems valuable.

Also, how much time do you spend out of your business for personal development? If it’s only a few days a year you better make sure it’s the absolute best use of your time.

Stop wasting time at the mediocre free events and get yourself to the only conference that matters.

Here’s the thing, it costs a lot of money and takes a lot of effort to bring in the best international speakers, the best venues and to get a room full of the best people.

It’s not going to be cheap, why should it be? If it was too cheap you’d probably be wondering why it’s so cheap!

However, I know it will pay for itself over and over again.

I’d like to recognise a few that have invested heavily in CMA Live over the years…

  • Allan Corfield – coming back for a 4th time in 2018 and is bringing his marketing team with him
  • Andy Brown – returning for his 5th year in 2018
  • Caroline McKenna – returning for her 5th year in 2018
  • Pam Laird – returning for her 4th year with her team in 2018
  • Julie Christie – returning for her 5th year with her team in 2018

Thanks for your continued support year after year!

9. Why is CMA Live not in London?

Seems a bit strange, right? Why would someone organise and run a leading marketing conference in Scotland? Can it be valuable if it’s not in London?

What a ridiculous question.

If anything CMA Live is so much better because it’s not in the usual conference locations.

Have you ever been to Edinburgh before? What an amazing city steeped in history.

I can’t think of a better place to host an international conference.

CMA won’t be moving to England…people come to us.

10. I won’t know anyone there

The most common word I hear that explains the atmosphere at CMA Live is ‘community’ – it gets mentioned by almost everyone.

Here are a few examples from the feedback when we asked ‘what did you like the most about CMA Live 16?‘…

I was surprised that every ‘new’ person I spoke to was really interesting and engaging, no matter what industry they were in. I was expecting to get trapped in a few conversations that I wanted to wriggle out of, as you do at many business or networking events.
To be with a mix of people that are starting out in business, with success in business, authors, speakers it was just brilliant!
Main thing is I got a definite sense of the community behind it, that people did know each other and help each other
The community, supportive feeling – lots of love in that room and I did not really know anyone!
The feeling in the room; the sense of community and genuine love for those in it. The conversations I had with people over the course of the two days have given me the confidence to really own my business and take action without fear. It’s a bit of a light and fluffy answer but the key thing I think is that the right people were there.
Spending time with the people who make my world a better place.
The atmosphere. The room was buzzing throughout the event far more than any business conference I have ever attended.
Being surrounded with people who just get it!
The community vibe. We think this is what makes it special. We’ve been to Social Media Marketing World, which also has this community vibe too it, but we have never been to an event in the UK that can match it.
The sense of community. Everyone was so friendly and supportive and happy to share ideas and advice.
Being in community with people who are committed to being and becoming their best selves through their business and the effect that’s had in me to dig deeper and be better!

I just can’t imagine you coming to CMA Live and not finding someone to talk to. If you feel alone in business there’s just no other place to be than CMA Live.

For many people Edinburgh is, quite rightly, the centre of the universe.??(I’m partisan - i lived there for 8 years). Plus if it’s good enough for the International TV festival...

Totally agree Chris - I just Companies/Event Organisers would finally wake up and realise that there is a world outside of London and we need to make events more accessible and affordable to everyone
