CM led delegation at Davos expects investment of over Rs 2.30 lk cr, ArcelorMittal, Adani Group, APRIL, Control S among investors keen to invest

Buoyed by Maharashtra’s emergence as the leading state in foreign direct investment bagging Rs 1.83 lakh crore between April 2022 and September 2023, the MahaYuti Government expects to attract investment of over Rs 2.30 lakh crore during the Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s Davos visit during the World Economic Forum (WEF) summit.???Shinde, who is leading a 10 member official delegation, will witness signing of in all 16 memorandum of understanding (MoUs) with 10 multinational companies and 6 Indian industry majors in varied sectors including IT, ITeS, data centres, logistics, renewable energy, transport infrastructure, papers and pulp products, steel, beer, gems and jewellery.

Among the major companies which have shown desire to invest in Maharashtra consist of ArcelorMittal, Adani Group, Indonesian based APRIL, Control S. CM will leave on midnight of January 15 and return on early morning of January 19.?

Apart from the CM led delegation, a separate 5 member team of Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority will also be present at the WEF summit.?

A senior officer from the Chief Minister’s Office said, ‘’The government hopes to attract foreign direct investment of over Rs 2.30 lakh crore against Rs 1.37 lakh crore which was committed last year at the WEF. Of the Rs 1.37 lakh crore, almost 75% investment proposals are under various stages of implementation. This year, the investors from the US, Europe, Singapore, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, South Korea have expressed their desire to invest while some are keen to hold talks with the CM led delegation to explore slew of avenues for investments.’’ He further added that ArcelorMittal will invest in a mining and steel project at Surjagard, Gadchiroli district while three US companies will make investment in beer and data centres. Indonesian APRIL is keen to invest in paper and pulp, Adani Group and Control S in data centres.

Further, the government will ink MoUs for the development of four logistics parks in Pune district. The officer said that even though there are six Indian companies, which are signing MoUs at Davos, they are operating in other parts of the globe too.

CM will meet the Saudi Arabia Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, DP World Executive Vice President apart from finance and industry ministers of Qatar, Oman, South Korea and Singapore. Shinde will deliver a special lecture on Urban Sustainability and Innovation and also make opening remarks at the agriculture round table focusing on food security issues in Gulf countries.?

CM’s delegation will comprise industry minister Uday Samant, additional chief secretary to the CM Bhushan Gagrani, principal secretary to the CM Brijesh Singh, industry department principal secretary Harshdeep Kamble, Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation CEO Vipin Sharma, MIDC GM (marketing) Vikas Suryavanshi, industry minister’s OSDs Ajay Parte and Jairam Suryavanshi and CM’s OSD Rajesh Kawade. The 10 member delegation has been cleared by the ministry of external affairs.?

The Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ OSD Kaustubh Dhavse, CM’s OSD Anand Madia, CM’s PRO Nitin Lalsaere and CM’s PA Prabhakar Kale will also travel to Davos but not as a part of the official delegation.?
