In the Clurb We All Fam

In the Clurb We All Fam

10/11: Basketball evolved, the Fat Bear winner got revenge, a new holiday spirit, fam in the clurb, burgers under the sea, every tomato grown, tea with tea, digital detoxes, and more.

A bit of the internet:

Okaymon | One of the coolest projects to hit our feeds this week is Okaymon—a unique blend of math, art and music, inspired by a love for both the NBA and Pokémon. The project reimagines 17 Pokémon types as basketball play styles, with attributes like HP or Speed transformed into skills like Inside D or Perimeter O. Using data from the last 7 NBA seasons, players are matched to these play styles and then paired with their Pokémon counterparts. We can’t wait to see this project evolve! (Yes we had to throw in a Pokémon reference)

Another Viral Drink | You know when Gordon Ramsay is a part of the conversation, we must talk about it. Dua Lipa created chaos this week on social media as she sipped on her soda, pickles, and jalape?o concoction. People all over started trying this combination, even the highly critical Gordon Ramsay. Are you going to try this chaotic beverage and give your taste buds a challenge?

Where My Broads At? | Arguably one of the most notable lines, "in the clurb, we all fam", from Comedy Central's Broad City is seeing a resurgence on TikTok. People are either reenacting the scene itself or reenacting how it feels when there's a verbal disconnect. Watch Sabrina Carpenter's rendition.

Will there be clotted cream served? | TikTok's "Afternoon Tea" drama is brewing, and it’s all thanks to the Queen of Afternoon Tea, a user known for her charming granny voice filter and no-nonsense reviews of tea rooms. In her latest review, she visited a tea spot that, in her signature style, she deemed mostly “bad.” The tearoom owner clapped back with a video, but users weren’t having it – most sided with the Queen, pointing out that bad service deserved the harsh critique. Now, TikTokers everywhere are getting in on the action, rating their own tea experiences or humorously reenacting the Queen’s famous catchphrases. It's clear: two scones per person and clotted cream are the gold standard for a proper tea session! ??

Gen Z attempts a Digital Detox | In an effort to reduce stress, improve focus, and reconnect with friends and family, Gen Z is taking a break from digital devices and social media. Organizations such as Amsterdam-based The Offline Club organize digital-free retreats and schedule global offline days so people can ditch their phones and enjoy offline activities.

What brands are up to:

Winning the wake-up game | Nintendo announced that they're releasing an alarm clock 'Alarmo' that wakes you up using the iconic sounds from the famous video games. Some other key features of the alarm clock are sleep tracking, snoozing the alarm only using gestures, and becoming louder if you don't signify you've woken up to ensure you don't sleep through your alarm. This could be a great way to remove the habit of reaching for your phone right when you wake up, creating less of a reliance on our cell phones.

Mega-chain OXXO enters U.S. market | Chances are, if you’ve traveled anywhere in Mexico, you’ve shopped at OXXO. The ubiquitous, brightly colored convenience chain will open 249 stores in Texas, New Mexico, and Arkansas. In Mexico, OXXO is often featured in pop culture and has inspired fan art. The move to the U.S. highlights the cultural bridge between Mexico and the U.S.

SpongeBob’s 25th Anniversary | Nickelodeon and Paramount have been gearing up to celebrate the 25th anniversary of SpongeBob Squarepants by bringing the iconic Krabby Patty hamburger to life in collaboration with 250 restaurants. The ‘Krabby Patty Kollab’ has introduced over 100 culinary adaptations from the show in restaurants across the USA, Toronto, London, and Mexico City. Nickelodeon and Paramount teamed up with Off The Menu and the MRG Group for this experiential food event which is set to run in participating restaurants through October 27th.?

#Sports | The National Hockey League is humorously addressing common Gen Z stereotypes in its new campaign video, "The Next Golden Era is Now." Posted on Instagram and TikTok, the video has quickly gone viral, earning praise from users for its engaging and relevant approach. The NHL is not alone in its social media success; many sports organizations are connecting with both dedicated fans and newcomers alike. National Football League teams like the Los Angeles Chargers and Dallas Cowboysare showcasing athlete personalities, fostering parasocial relationships that strengthen fan loyalty. This trend in sports content serves as a valuable blueprint for brands aiming to make their social media presence more compelling and build their own fandom.
