Clubhouse craziness

Clubhouse craziness

Clubhouse ???? is the hottest social media app out right now. Imagine 1000s of simultaneous conference calls (audio only) happening around the world on every topic under the sun.

If you go anywhere on the web, you will see everyone from your friends, to clients to top influencers around the world talking about the power of clubhouse.

The discussions can go from meditation to leadership skills to social media to entrepreneurship… everything really. You could even find a room for dating. I once enter into a room of ”how to find a sugar daddy…” I was obviously in the wrong room.

I spoke directly to some incredibly talented entrepreneurs with hundreds of thousands of followers… who shared their expertise and tips. But it’s not just about listening to celebrities and the heavy hitters of the industry. It’s also about connecting with people all around the world with common interests. You can find a room or a club with people looking to talk about anything.

We’ve hosted our first room last week and it was a great experience. We didn’t really expect anything, the goal was to share and get to know this app a little bit better.

Who Is Clubhouse For?

Anyone really... Clubhouse is for people who want to learn, grow and connect (and people with iPhones… for now!)

You don’t have to be an entrepreneur or influencer… but the space is generally focussed on learning from others, sharing your own experiences and connecting with others who have shared interests. Clubhouse is also global – which makes it an incredible way to build bridges, hear from others and diversify your networks. I love to discuss with people in the US, France or Australia! The dynamic is amazing.

How To Get A Clubhouse Invite

Clubhouse is currently invite-only. Which means, you need someone already in the app to invite you in. The app is built on trust and connection. Your account will always show who you invited in and if they breach guidelines (trolling, abuse etc) and get banned, you may be penalised for this too.

Rooms!

Once you’re a member of Clubhouse, the first screen that you’ll see in the app is known as “The Hallway”. The Hallway is basically like your newsfeed. It will include rooms created by the people you follow. If any of the room titles sound interesting, just tap the room and you’ll be added to the audience and can listen in for as long as you’d like.

Silent Rooms: Yes - in Clubouse as well! It's mainly to connect with other people.

What Are The Different Roles on Clubhouse?

There are 3 main roles you can have when you’re using Clubhouse.

? Moderator: Moderators are the people on stage who have green star next to their name. They are controlling the conversation, setting the topic of conversation and ensuring everyone has a fair opportunity to speak. As a moderator you can mute people, accept people onto the stage and return them to the audience.

? Speaker: These are people who are “on stage” and have the ability to unmute and speak. They don’t have full admin powers though.

? Audience: This is everyone else who is on mute and listening to the conversation.

You can move between being a speaker and audience member within a room by raising your hand.

How To Speak ?? On Clubhouse

When you enter a room, you’ll automatically be placed in the audience and on mute. But if the conversation is interesting, you want to ask a question or get involved you can raise your hand to be on stage ???? (unless the raise hand function has been disabled by a moderator).

In the above image:

  • The peace emoji allows you the leave the room quietly.
  • The high five allows you to raise your hand to speak.
  • The + symbol is how you can add others to the room that you think would be interested.
  • The mic is your “unmute” option if you’re a speaker or moderator.

Learn more Clubhouse Lingos:

Clubs – Groups that you can follow / join to be notified of any rooms happening on that topic. I've tried to created two clubs, but still are waiting to hear back from them.

Party Hat -This emoji is on your user profile for the first 7 days to show people you’re a newbie.

PTR – This stands for Pull To Refresh, this means the moderator is asking you to slide down on your screen. Doing this will reste the order of the speakers on stage and let the app know the room is active.

One Mic - If a moderator reminds the room that there is "one mic" this means you wait your turn to speak. If the room is going in order of who entered the stage, pull to refresh to know the proper order and wait your turn. If it's popcorn style, wait for a break in the conversation.

DM ME - there is currently no way to DM someone within Clubhouse app. If a moderator or speaker asks you to DM them, they mean for you to message them on either Instagram or Twitter. You can find their IG or TW profiles in their ClubHouse Bio.
